Or the studios could just explain how the new format has such superior quality to what everybody is already using, even though it's the same shit in the end.
You might be trolling (or just dumb) but you can change nearly every single aspect of the Sawfish interface through the gnome control panel, or Sawfish's own config program (middle-click on desktop, Customize, All Setting).

The last time I used IE was on a 98SE system with 96MB ram.
On a large/. article with moderation forms, it would completely skew the page when I scrolled and the whole system would be slow to the point of unusable.
I was using the latest (at the time) versions of everything.
And allow the browser to be able to take down the GUI and the OS along with it, yay!

Wouldn't that be the same as a clean re-implementation, and be legal?

This is a big problem with over-optomizing a chip without varying it's environment. You end up with a design that only works only on the one chip it was tested with and only under the exact same conditions.
But a rotating, perfectly balanced station couldn't be built in modules as the ISS is.
It would also create many more problems that it would solve, and would have to be enormous to give the desired pseudo-gravity effect.

Don't think that this is something new.
In fact, IIRC in the early/middle 19th century a school teacher in newengland bombed the school he taught at and killed several dozen of his own students.
I don't think that was MTV's fault.
The point is that the shuttle is well designed for the task that it does, but is poorly designed for anything else.
It would be a waste of weight to design a re-usable veichle for one flight.
