I loved the original starcraft game but didn't really like playing online because of the cheating and honestly it's more fun to play in a room full of people you know. I also don't support this designed obsolescence crap. I can still load up starcraft and play it with my friends and will still be able to in 10 years regardless of what happens to blizzard.

I just sent off an email to blizzard telling them I'm not buying their new version and I suggest you do the same. It only takes a minute and if everyone started doing something other than sitting on their asses things might change.

I see no way to email EA without having an account. Maybe someone else can find a method.

  19. Re:RIAA is right on this one. on RIAA Seeks Web Removal of Courtroom Audio · · Score: 3, Insightful

The reason given is because it may taint the jury pool. When knowing facts makes the jury unsuitable, you've got a problem (Due process arguments notwithstanding). It's also because if effective defence of this type of court action becomes widely known, the RIAA will find it harder to get their way.

But how does the RIAA's public campaign telling everyone that downloading a song is stealing and kills artists not tainting the jury pool? Why do they get to spread half-truths all day and everyone else has to follow the rules? Maybe a judge should issue a gag-order on the RIAA since they are now in court asking juries to give them $80,000 per song do they can feed the starving artists.

  20. Re:Correctly? on Researcher Trolls MMO, Surprised When Players Hate Him · · Score: 1

The only reason he was "unbeatable" was because he built a character optimized to exploit a cheap trick that didn't rely on his own strength. I mean, he talks himself up as being skilled, but the truth is a little less flattering. Plus, he wasn't as nice and innocently curious of a guy as he pretends to be. An AC below notes that he would taunt people, post bragging kill logs, etc.

Sounds like he was a true hero and killed the bad guys without getting any experience or money for it... wow...

Regardless, everyone is missing the point which is if someone is being a troll it's not ok to make death threats like "I'm going to come find you and kill you in real life because you hurt my computer game villain."

I'll also make the point that if he was doing something wrong then the game developers would have banned him wouldn't they?

Last point I'll make is he doesn't care what YOU think... he was doing research on how people act in these games and people where more than happy to show him just how dumb they truely are.
