  1. Re:..and the lack of rail options... on Charter Flight Websites / Services? · · Score: 2, Informative

The reason we have a lack of rail options is mostly due to the fact that our government, or better yet our president is simply not interested in providing tax dollars to fund such a project. Every other rail system in the world (well, a majority of the great ones) are subsidized by the countrie's governments in which they reside. I recall not to long ago, Dubya (congress stopped him) was trying to eliminate ALL government funding to Amtrak. Amtrak NEEDS that funding to survive, even if that money they get is just going to making rail repairs.

I don't think most people realize how much upkeep the railroad takes, and modernizing our crumbling rail infrastructure will not only take time... but some serious investment from the government to make it possible.

Of course, I am biased... because I hate planes and think trains are sexxxy ;)

One thing I have noticed from my adventures in techsupportland, is that not only are most people getting subpar phone service, but also an unexpected side effect of no internet. I suppose this could directly correlate with the lack of tech knowledge for some people, but with VONAGE in particular... I've had far to many instances where a customer will have great phone service, but the voip modem/router provided to them acts as a very effective web filter. NO internet whatsoever. From most of them that i've ended up talking to again, vonage actually had to ship a new unit to them to fix the issue. Now that could be partially due in part to their tech support, but whatever.

    It all sucks imo.

Depending on where you live depends on what those tech support guys can do (or in my case, girls). Cable video reps have very little to help you out with. We've got the tools and the power and ability to accurately diagnose your problems, they don't. I'm assuming you have cablenet with them... next time, just call net support with your video problems.

    C. From what I understand, their VOIP service isn't like vonage, and it runs over their private network
    D. If you have an issue, don't complain about it here. Call them and tell them exactly what's happening. I let my lower channels stay fuzzy for three years without calling, blaming it on them. They came out an reran the line to my house and I haven't had any issues with cable or net since.

  22. Finally on Blockbuster Sued Over Late Fees Claim · · Score: 5, Informative

I work for Blockbuster as a manager. I think it's about damned time someone started complaining. They've been engaging in deceptive business practices for years now. I'll outline this new policy for you guys:

You have 7 days after the due date to get your movie back. This means, if it's due monday, get it back the following monday by NOON.

If you fail to do this, you will get charged the retail price (unless it's been out for awhile) of the dvd, game, or vhs.

Bring it back before 30 days (this is where they get really shady, because even I dont know if it's 30 days late or 30 dates after the 7 day thing), and you will get a full refund minus a $1.50 "restocking fee"
This fee is supposedly charged to cover the cost of sending you a bajillion phone calls and postcards reminding you that your stuff is due. Mind you, there's a glitch in the system at the moment that will still call you even if your stuff has been returned. (I might also add that you should call us if you get that call and know you brought your stuff back. It may be on the shelf NOT checked in)

If you don't bring it back before the 30 days, you are STUCK with the movie. Come in and get your cover art, you're entitled to it. There is no way you can get your money back after this point.

So, ending this long reply. No matter what, unless you get your movie back within two weeks (most of the time), you're still getting charged.

Hope this helped you out... I hate this company.
