One of my big beefs with automated phone systems, is when you have to punch in all of your "client information", like a credit card number, only to have the person answering the phone ask you for all the same information.
I don't have an issue with this personally. It' not like you can't get the shows. However, HBO has a right to defend themselves and this is a far more effective way to do it than suing people! We can't get HBO in Canada so torrents are important, but since HBO is the only remaining decent station in the 600 channel universe I think it's importnat to support them as well. Quality programming(see their warehouse full of emmys) and no commercials... Why aren't the rest of the 'cable' channels like HBO?
Please for the love of god, don't have the chief take his helmet off. You could save a lot of money by not showing his face. This is IMHO a large part of his character. His voice can be powerful and not show his face. Much the same they did with Darth Vader.
Years ago, when they were testing data over power lines in the UK, they had problems with the powerlines carrying data actually broadcast the data and you were bale to pick it all up simply by standing near an overhead. You'd obviously need the appropriate gear to pick up the data, but it still was a privacy issue. Has that problem been looked after?
All the comparisons that people were making between Disney and EA are actually quite clear on many levels. EA has been accused of killing creativity, with the dozens of titles they release each year a small fraction are original releases. Everything else is a sequel or a annual release like the sports titles. Just like disneys model over the last 10 years. Very little original content. Instead they bastardize old favorites with lame sequels. The movie industry is suffering form trying to make every movie a canned winner instead of gambling on original content and now the game industry is following them down the same dead end road.

Finally! They understand! Movies are too canned and similar now. You see one per year from each genre and you've seen the rest. They need to get away from the canned scripts and get back to being inventive. It's no wonder documentaries are making a ass-load of money lately. It's the only thing that has the possibility of being unique in the theatres lately.
I'm looking for someone like Vonage in Canda. Right now the only provider I know of is Shaw and they charge 50 bucks/mth for this bells and whistles package. I just want basic local dialing with voicemail and caller ID. The 14.95 package on Vonage looks great. Anyone know of any Canadaian providers?
Doubleclick could learn a lot from google's ad model. Not only are the google ads non invasive they are actually relevant. I don't usually block google based ads because they are simply relevant text. In fact I've often used the blue ad links on top of google searches. They are usually quite useful. For example, this morning I was looking for a PDF creator for Citrix and the ad links were actually more useful than the free text that was returned in the search. Now that is advertising that works.
Count me in as a convert I've worked with Linux for years. As a server it's great. Rock solid and reliable. As a desktop it's nothing but a headache unless you really like spending hours tinkering. Which many do and that's why it's popular. I've gotten tired of tinkering when I get home from work and would prefer that my stuff just work without having to read and research enerything I install. For now I use windows, but having to re-install it every 6-12 months is getting old as well. I for one will be buying an x86 Mac ASAP.
The air scooter is an ultralight, not a "car". That's a pretty big difference. Move on there's nothing to see here. The flying car still hasn't arrived. When it does you will likely be able to credit this guy.

Al Gore never claimed he invented the internet! Let's be clear about this. He said, "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."
Which is true, he was a part of a house sub comitte that funded the DARPA research to develop a communications system that would withstand a nuclear attack. What they came up with eventually was adopted by universities and then by the masses. It is now known as the internet. He didn't invent it, nor did he ever claim he did. He was a key figure in it's creation though.
I agree, Robleimo is a terrible interviwer and this interview was useless. I read the first quarter and quickly scanned the rest. Nothing caught me as very interesting.
DRM content? Are you kidding? I can't even stand Disney DVDs because they're restrictive. I watched the incredibles last night and I find it frustrating how you can't fast forward the commercials at the beggining of the DVD. Disney is bad for this, but certainly not alone. DVDs that force you to sit through 20 minutes of junk are very annoying. It's the same idea. I bought this movie and everytime I start it, you force me to watch these company logos and commercials even if I don't want to.
Why all the trouble to optimize IE? Shouldn't you be using Firefox anyway to increase system stability. It's when you're browser crashes and doesn't take your desktop with it.
I would argue that isn't really true. People are very distracted form their work by surfing, emails every few minutes, instant messages, and a large number of people playing games instead of working. As a contractor I'm sensetive to this type of thing, but I'm always amazed how much slacking goes on inside large corporations. The larger the company, the more red tape, the slower people can work and the more slacking they do on their computers.
Microsoft need not fear open source projects... yet. They always manage to self destruct somehow. Firefox is gaining serious momentum against IE, problems like this don't lend to it's credibility.
Hey NASA, I suggest you contact this guy named Burt Rutan. Apparently he's pretty good at putting together elegant solutions for a relatively low cost.
