That's how real terrorists communicate, they record their secret memos on Celine Dion MP3's. You can only hear them if you play them backwards. Try it and see for yourself!
Say this happens. A week later, a security hole is exploited and all sorts of havoc ensues. This can open up the door to a massive class-action lawsuit against MS.
Anyway, whatever they do, they should require that certain standards exist for user ID'ing, so people can use whatever they want, not just Passport(tm).
Yes, Opera is great. I too enjoy the mouse gestures. Honestly, It's my only browser now at home and work, except when I hit a page that just doesn't work well with it. IE is easily 3x slower on everything.
Not to mention that with Opera you're using an actual browser, not using your OS as a browser. Integrating your browser and your operating system is the dumbest thing I've heard of.
In nature, the retarded kid would be allowed to die; as part of natural selection. In our world, the kid isn't allowed to die, and there was a case recently where two retarded people wanted to be parents! Good God!
Point being, things should not be outlawed because someone says they're Wrong, there must actually be demonstrable harm to others. Of course, certain things are outlawed for no good reason...
exporting display is always neat, but the power of the command line is great. Show them how to do with one command something that would take 15 minutes of cutting/pasting in MS Word. Samba and regular NFS mounting is cool too. Changing init levels manually is good to know.
I was thinking.... if the make scripts for various stuffs included a ping... Say for example ping that Linux counter project at the end of each Linux install... perhaps they would have a more accurate representation of the number of installs, IPs, etc. You could also through in a ping or sendmail to Microsoft telling them you've found the way out! Just a thought....
Agreed... my P120 Toshiba laptop runs great. Anything that's too bloated for it, I don't really need in a laptop anyway. I'd really like to see how snappy win95 is on one of these > 1ghz machines.
How about good, functional perforations? There's nothing worse than trying to tear off a paper towel, and ending up with about 20 feet of it on the floor. Or, Saran Wrap (TM) that gets mangled all to hell because the cutty strip is crappy.
We've got a guaranteed 2 years, at least, of LOTR. Perhaps it should be made into a topic, so those of us who don't care about LOTR can safely ignore it. Thanks.
Really... how did they sell millions of computers? They've made their own ass-load of money by including windows(tm) on their pcs. I hate MS as much as the next guy (IHMSAMATNG), but really, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Really, all encryption is open to decryption. What one thing is unique to any object? Its location. Say you incorporate a unique location key, and specify your destination's unique location key, a message key, and a confirmation key. You send your message... recipient is validated by GPS and given access to message key to generate request for confirmation key via satellite. Sure, nothing is 100%, but this type of system would likely be way, way less hackable than typical internet trasnmission. Just a thought.
I have this Toshiba 486, running Win3.1. It has a little stylus pen which you use to click, draw, write, whatever on the screen. It's got 8mb ram, a 40mb hard drive, a ps-2 connected keyboard, pcmcia sockets, the works. I maximize paint.exe and let my child draw stuff on it. Point being, tablet type pc's are hardly new, and hardly as fun as the marketing folks would have you believe. It's just another thing they want to sell you.
Is this story one of those new advertisements I hear so much about? Possibly submitted by the person unloading dozens of these on Ebay?

If I were so sinister as to email people all sorts of evil stuff, my ISP is so crappy that they probably wouldn't be able to access any of my email.

Really, keep in mind, it's all subjective.

30 Years of MSN at $21.00/month in exchange for a $100 discount! Yeah Baby!
Agreed, however, wasn't/isn't he an engineer?
I'm guessing that some flunky at Verisign make a type on someone's NIC handle, and it all went to hell from there.
The vast majority of users don't choose ANY browser. They just take what's spool fed to them by MS-AOL
If you're really unable to use a keyboard, train your chicken to peck out the letters for you.
Chances are, if you're unable to use a keyboard, you're unable to use a silly pen.

I never really use my yahoo email account anyway, so I'll just let it fill up. Why not.

That'll happen... when Yuppies start shelling out hundreds of dollars for public transit, robotic arms, etc. etc. etc.

How about a new category for LOTR so I can ignore it?
Take an old porno mag, cut out a crotch-shot, put it in the pre-paid return envelope.
Better yet, since we have the technology, print one out.
Or, just add a clip before the previews with Gilbert Godfried screaming "YOUR WIRELESS IS BLOCKED IN HERE".
Or, have people sign waivers when they buy their tickets.
There should really be a law against conveniences becoming God-Given-Rights. Really.

I am reminded of the Styx song from the 80's, "Too Much Time On My Hands"
Just think, if the dot-commers spend as much time working as they did on silly toys like this, they might still have jobs!
