it seems to me that intel has their stuff together on most things (market domination, monopolistic practices, aggressive vendor bullying, and making decent chips once in a while)
i never cared for mcafee's products, but i thought about giving them another shot: if intel thinks it's worth money, maybe it is, right?
yet every time i hear the name it's something bad. it was just last year that the false-positive on svchost.exe took down hospitals, schools, and even a few thousand of intel's own PCs that were still running WinXP.
what is intel thinking, putting so much money into mcafee? what do they know that we don't?
recent anecdotal blah blah, but i'm going to go with really lucky.
last year my 3GS was unusable after a three foot drop onto concrete: glass was cracked, which i just worked with despite stubble getting caught in it. the battery wouldn't charge anymore so i gave it a rest and replaced it with a nexus one.
the wind caught my n1, yanked it off my bag while riding my bike at 75mph. phone, case, battery, and back plate were scattered over about forty feet of asphalt.
glass is fine, still runs like a champ. not as pretty as it used to be, but back to 100%.
using an implementation of OpenGL with much worse graphics and features than D3D. in a conversation about advancing graphics technology, steam on linux and osx is pretty laughable, as parent put it.
how the person who feels he is being victimized here would feel if his app was instantly removed via a hotline telephone call by someone with a false DMCA claim?
his files are hosted in *.pdf files. tried looking at them in a windows 7 and an ubuntu machine, both have the text with unreadable lines through them. why would you host graphics as pdf?
paul thurott is a microsoft fan, and windows junkie. he writes a lot about microsoft products, and usually positively, given his preference. he also makes money writing and blogging about MS products..
that results in conspiracy theorists in slashdot comments to claim he is a paid employee of microsoft every time his name is mentioned and as such dismiss him
which is pretty unfortunate, as he and his material tend to be useful for those of us that are forced to/choose to use microsoft products
now we have a slashdot front page article of a pretty big criticism from thurott. something to link to in future articles!
i hadn't even noticed msi's keybinds for zooming (which do work). i've used Opera since 4.0, and the zoom in/out keybinds have also always been... keypad + and keypad -.
afaik, this was the first browser to have keybound zooming, and i can't think of more intuitive binds than those:p
keeping updated on progressive developers (and the money that is backing them) who push against censorship, for freedoms and rights in an economic ecosystem (App Store) completely controlled by a private monopoly (Apple) is one of the very few reasons i read slashdot.
to be honest, it is the only variety of news that i actually see here before other news aggregates, as opposed to days after
regardless of your stretch of a definition for fud,
Google is singing "tear down the wall," by building a wall. we've been living in an environment of corporate self-protection lately; do you think this tactic will work, and convince Facebook "Oh, wow, I should open up here!"
Or is it more likely that other sites will follow suit and prevent their users from easily getting in bed with other websites?
firefox has ad-block-type features built in. i don't use it, myself - the internet is not free, and i don't mind supporting websites by looking at advertisements that might be appealing to me.
when i hit the second item on the list - all-in-one gestures - i stopped reading. opera had mouse gestures since 2001, years before firefox was released to much fanfare. all-in-one (like most gesture extensions) copied opera's default mouse gesture setting scheme.
yes, i am dismissing his content based on having very little information, i thought there was nice circular story-telling there.
i'm always willing to support an attempt at alternative forms of education. i honestly wish i had a similar opportunity as a high-schooler.
the only concern i'd have (and which has probably already been addressed) is to make sure the students get a diploma or GED at the end of the twelfth year. not seeing any indicator on that in tfa.
been wanting to switch to verizon, but i've been waiting because their unlimited data plan was too expensive compared to my 200MB AT&T plan. hopefully tiered verizon can compete. new phone for me, ha cha cha cha cha
for example: "Do you think parents should be responsible for preventing their children from accessing video games containing violent content?" I would bet you that those same 72% are going to say "yes" to that as well.
hello! ever raised a child? it would be impossible for parents alone to control that. with children, it takes a village, etc etc. in today's world, the village includes activists and law makers.
zero impact opinion piece go!

excellent, our collaborative efforts have begun! please purchase three models of each phone and contact me for shipping information

Funny, Steam games run just fine.

he was clearly speaking of the fairly strong correlations between low income, poor healthcare, and high rates of reproduction
treat the environment, treat the problem
$10 says she uses this as a club to try to quell speech that she doesn't like.
[Citation Needed] as I have seen nothing to imply that Sarah Palin wants to user violence to quell speech.
as others have noted, "club" is figurative, not literal. one cannot club another with a trademark.
regardless, among palin's first goals as mayor of wasilla was to set up a system of banning books from the library
didn't go anywhere, of course. the image of a politician that has an eye on silencing speech that is troublesome to her agenda, though, has persisted
citation needed? Palin Pressured Wasilla Librarian .
step off.
i hate every unlimited-only package that i have
AT&T moving to tiered pricing on their mobile internet saved me $240/year
why consumers think they want fewer options is beyond me

i searched the page for someone commenting "bandwidth costs money, you get what you pay for"
no-one seems to realize this
these companies aren't here to offer you an awesome service, they are here to profit. offering unlimited internet no longer equals profit.
aw god now i'm a thurott paid employee~~~~

on the topic at hand, ms is not a monopoly. i can't think of any situation where i could call the company as a whole, or divisions of it, "corrupt."
