    Even when released under the GPL, I don't think the FSF would go after Apple for including Brtfs on Darwin or MacOSX. They would reach an agreement on licensing and get over it. Well, at least that would be the smartest move so everyone would be happy with, right?

    All this things you mention are a simple evolutionary step of all the technologies, Personal Computers offered. Don't think that if Bill died at his birth we wouldn't have computers as we have them today. Different of course, but many technologies Microsoft have used were created by someone else. No great invention have come out from Redmond in long time.

    ehm... you don't need to use FAT for USB mass storage devices or for any other kind of device, you could easily use anything else (actually all my pen drives have Ext3). The problem is that Windows (by default) only supports FAT and NTFS.

    This same problem happened to us when I was doing "service". Let's just say that something had a computer with an access database, and the mdb had to be sent over a microwave connection to something else (that also had a computer) which took mdb files from many somethings and did some other things. Well, anyway, at first they we're using FTP, but I got to script a solution that zipped the file over several small ones (50MB each) then sent them over SCP, made a checksum on each file and then rebuilt the mdb file.

    Doesn't PDF support metadata? They could provide a PDF which displays the raw scanned texts (no OCR) and then have the OCR text linked as metadata for indexing. Where can I go to pick my paycheck?

    Seriously, how can people pay that much money for a product without warranty, without customer support and from a company without soul? Why do people like to be treated like criminals when buying a product, i.e.
    Warranty Voids if you open the envelope where the DVD comes in. How can I decide if I like it or not? I mean, you can even return 50' plasma and not a copy of Vista?
    And don't give me that shit about piracy, not every one is criminal you know.

    Completely agree with you. I don't see how Mono is any better than most of the programming languages out there that have a great support and communities behind them. I don't see what's so great about Mono that you can't just build on, for example, Python. And no, I don't want Windows applications and DLL's running on my system. If I see a stupid .exe file I'll delete it into oblivion. I'm just sorry for all the effort that the Mono Project and related projects are wasting when they could be making something else more useful.

    There, fixed that for you I've lived in south america, the USA and Europe. My whole life I've been struggling with the stupid Imperial Units. I mean, English it's such a easy, standard language, who in their right mind would have thought of such a cumbersome system. Oh! And don't worry about immigration and tourism, the U.S. Inmigration Department or however it's called now, is pretty much all the pain a person can handle.

    When will they learn? The way to dominate the market isn't to force your own sub-par standards on everyone else - it's to adopt early and adopt often. Be the most compatible and feature-complete and you will be a developer favorite for years to come.

    I think that Microsoft Bing and IE guys must work on different countries. I mean, take a look at Bing, as for now is a pretty good search site that beats google (except for the name), works perfectly on Firefox and Opera (the ones I've tested) and haven't gone out with a FUD campaign. If you build something that's great, works, and is not a pain in the ass, then people will come. Ok, you need some marketing, but don't need this kind of guerrilla marketing that pretty much pisses people off.
