I don't know how it is that YOU purchase games, because if its online, or going down to a retailer, both those options are available for all Valve games.
Or did you mean, "I tried teh torrentz but no 1 is seeding!"
How do you tell it which flat open spaces are school yards, or mall parking lots, vs empty freeways or ploughed fields, or a busy freeway?
How does a pilot know?
If you rely on memory or visual cues, a computer can do just as well.
And whats to say a computer would not have had similar successes in the case of Sully's, had it taken a different route entirely? It's a circular arguement.
We have a few Chinese Restaurants around town with Buffets that have a rule about finishing dishes. They can charge you extra if you don't finish whats on your plate.
He means the kind of research that gets paid for by government grants.
Corporate R&D is a different kind, where they don't usually want to publish the results. They want to keep it proprietary. At least thats the impression I get.
They should take advantage of the technology and displace the parasite.
There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we (technology) are the cure.
Step 5. University library shells out nontrivial dead presidents so that scientists can read the papers they and their colleagues wrote.
This also has been bothering me for a while. I never got why exactly my girlfriend, who is an undergrad in Ancient and Medieval History, and has been networking with Prof's all over North America, still insists on buying Archaeology Magazine, when she has heard most of the names in there and could probably get the un-editted articles if she sent an email. It's like 5 Degrees of Seperation max.
It absolutely baffles me.
Then again, how would she know there was a paper written if she didn't purchase the publicized journal? Perhaps Universities need to take a more open stance on its articles, put a GPL or something on their papers before submitting it to a journal.
Actually, cartography is an excellent way to transmit electronic communications securely.
You see you take the lattitude and longitude of a city. Take those numbers and convert them into their ASCII equivalents.
However, day to day communication, doesn't work so well.

So, do you think Sully would have pulled off a perfect water landing if he had been miles away from the cockpit?
I don't see why not. I don't know if I'd be under any more or less stress to handle an emergency if my life is on the line or if its hundreds of passengers.
And essentially, some of the mistakes that might cause emergencies will be reduced by a drone that doesn't forget things. And for the record, no human has ever had faster REFLEXES than a modern computer, we've just had the gift of INSIGHT. The only reason we can outsmart a computer in various fields is being able to do what it does not expect. Usually a pilot in the sky is best for situations where your target is also human so you need to be able to have someone who can continue another person's train of thought based on one action (Like fighter pilots watching how enemy pilots fly, and Rescue teams saving victims). It's the unexpected elements of humans that require another human to assist.
In the case of a commercial airliner needing to make an emergency landing, I don't see why a computer couldn't handle it, should proper emergency protocols be handled. The only problem I see arising is instrumentation error, which a few cameras in the cockpit could fix.
Well exactly. This isn't so much an "AI" as it is a script that has output depending on its input.
Essentially, any "errors" the computer makes would be an issue with setting up a debugger and seeing why it chose that selection. Then it falls into two categories: It spotted things humans missed when classifying or it has faulty programming that is creating false positives or missing data.
It is, actually. Steam is supplied with the retail CD's, ad is not required to be online to play.
I don't know why its any different than a game coupled with Gamespy.
They've been around for a while. LINK
They did. I believe it aired May 23 at 9pm. There were some glitches, such as names and faces changing, but the ending was about what you'd expect.

And given the art surrounding portal 2, that would make sense. I believe the supposed box cover had quite a bit of flora.

What about getting it ON a Tablet? Anybody agreed to or even thinking about putting Ubuntu on their tablet?
I don't see a lot of people wanting to buy a tablet only to replace the existing OS.
Though it'd be nice to get some kind of slate for a cheap price - this should cut down the price by $100, if Ubuntu can get someone on board with it.

Ah - so why then would a remote control not be sufficient in any of those cases?
It seems you could have a small handful of pilots on staff to handle the difficult situations, while most of the system is automated.

I think the Scot's are worse for it. Have you ever heard them say Edinburgh?
I don't see whats Ironic about it. Whats your definition of irony?
Umm... Maybe YOU are.

I'd hardly consider that "AI".
I know! Can you believe someone rolled through and modded us all trolls? What's his beef?
You know, you joke, but his fans have spread death threats to Beiber haters or people suspected as having relationships with him.
I think you might have something here. He engenders violence in both his fans and his haters...
ARGH I hate you for using that stupid pun.
Really? I thought it was remarkably well done.
It's rare to find a good pun like that.
And what about people who get sick at the smell or sight of meat?
What about the people who get sick at the smell or sight vegatables?
If it had been the smell of a fresh salad would you mind as much?
Don't hold your breath, I don't think this idea will catch on.
