WTF? The electoral college gives smaller states some voting power in the REPUBLIC that we live in. Without the elector college, we would only need to tally the votes from California, New York and Texas. Why bother with any place else?

Correct me if I'm wrong (it's been years since I worked in RF), but don't digital channels require less bandwidth? Is it time to start using channels 36, 36.2, 36.5, 36.7....? It seems that sticking with traditional FM or AM channels is a bit of a waste.
I totally agree. Too often I see people put the kids 1st and the spouse second. That's a really big problem. It's sad because it may seem like the right thing to do, but it just isn't.
My wife and I try to make our children know that our relationship is the primary one of the family. It's important for us as well as for them... I think children feel safer knowing that their parents have a strong relationship. Just a hunch, and I say this as a son of divorced parents.
Blaming your career for divorce? I guess I can see blaming workaholism for divorce, or maybe if your career was pornography or rock star, but IT? Really?
My personal experience is that IT geeks have lower divorce rates, but I could be wrong. I think the divorce problem touches on a number of issues, so making a correlation here would be difficult.
Actually, as much as I despise gun control (I am a gun owner and NRA supporter), I see an even better possible application:
Rather than keep my ammo and my gun separate, I could have it set up so that only my wife and I can fire it, and our thumb print(s) is the secure key. This way I could leave my.357 in the dresser and loaded and not have to worry about running for the ammo when a bad guy breaks in.

Besides, the topic of the original story is racism in hiring. Hiring managers can't hire qualified minorities (blacks) if there are none to hire, and the few out there are being snatched up quickly by companies eager to satisfy quotas.
Women... the only majority that is considered a minority. I think about the company I'm at. They laid off over 2/3 of the staff in the dot com bust. Nevermind the fact that many people got let go, they had to battle lawsuits from women and minorities claiming predjudice...
So perhaps 2 things at work here: 1. I'd be afraid, as an employer, to hire someone who will sue me when let go. 2. I'm afraid, as an employer, to lay off an non-qualified minority and keep a really qualified white guy.

The simple fact is that white men don't sue based on racism or sexism when let go or fired. There is that risk with minorities and women, regardless of how large or small. I've seen it happen several times now... You look and think, "Why did they keep that guy? He has no skills..." You know why? Fear of lawsuits.
I'm sorry to say it, and someone will accuse me of racism. Still, I remember a very good black friend of mine flat out telling me that the only reason I was laid off and he was kept was because he was black. He knew as well as I did. And he wouldn't have sued for being laid off, but so it goes...
Yeah? How many black guys were in your computer science classes? In my experience, minorities are the first hired and last laid off. I'm not being a racist or anything here, it's just what I have experienced.

Define exercise. Most people at the gym think they are "exercising" when they really aren't doing much at all.
I run 60 or more miles a week. I can eat whatever I want.
The problem is people don't know how to exercise. I'm at the gym a lot, and I see people who think they are getting a good workout but are not.
You can't walk for 20 minutes on a treadmill, go home and eat two cookies as a reward, and expect to lose weight.
