    Obama is as bad as Bush? Are you cracked?

    Obama voted against war. Bush started two wars.
    Obama decreased the nuclear arms count of the WORLD by about a third. Bush did nothing of the sort.

    I could go on, but these are huge factors and dwarf pretty much everything else. You are out of your skull for saying they are the same.

    Unity as shipped with 10.10 was not ready for prime-time (slow, glitchy). Your best bet for a decent UI on 10.10 is to use the regular GNOME interface, delete the bottom panel, and replace it with Docky (which is an OSX-looking launcher/task switcher).

    Orbital sun-shades are by their very nature temporary. If we don't like the side-effects, we can stop replenishing them and let them burn up in the atmosphere as they lose momentum.

    Ah, but as any Libertarian will tell you, this problem is self-correcting without government intervention. For example: once fish species start going extinct, the invisible hand of the market will intervene by making those fish ever-more valuable, allowing fishermen to profitably expend ever-more resources on hunting down every last one of the endangered delicacies.     Encryption servers is a waste of time. Anyone who has the data has the crypto keys, too. Only laptop encryption makes sense--and only when you never write your password down.

    Disk encryption has some serious usability and productivity issues. Specifically: to have even 128 bits of encryption, you must have a twenty-character completely random password. And performance will be hurt with it--ALL data must travel through the CPU. There's no DMA with encryption.

    Well, we certainly considered taking action against the specific airliners being used by the attackers. If a certain IP is being used by an attacker, why not null-route it where possible, or DoS it where not possible? It sounds like an easier decision than shooting down a hijacked passenger plane.

    One would hope that there are some checks and balances in the process to reduce the chances of abuse by authorities, of course.

    I need to point out that we actually don't know why the FBI is tracking this fellow. Every single reason anyone has given for the tracking has been pure speculation. In the original reddit post, the kid even said "we were high when we found it so we thought it was a bomb." So, for all we know, the FBI is tracking him related to a drug sting. There is no indication that blog posts or Muslim community connections had anything to do with it.

    No, you can't just refuel a shuttle in orbit. I don't know if you've noticed, but the shuttle's tanks drop off the thing on its way up.

    And even if it kept its tanks on it, it's not a station wagon. You don't just refuel it and turn the key. It is designed for one launch, from a big complicated tower, and then must be overhauled before launching again.
