I want to call them back and agru this because first of all I shouldn't be charged for a broken phone because the phone should of broke in 3 months. Second I shouldn't be charged a massive cancell fee becasue they sell phones which break easily.

Does anyone have a story or tale about being charged a low rate for there contract. Something around 33 months would be good because I'm really pissed about how they've been screwing me. Out of the last 5 or so months I've had to call and get my bill corrected 4 times and on a second note I had to make a new call to just get my phone replaced. If I own a book I shouldn't be allowed to just copy it, change 10% of the wording and resell it with out letting the person who wrote the book know about it. In the same sense Busy-box shouldn't be changed around and made to be in violation of the GPL / GNU and given out with out the Busy-box creator knowing about it.

On the other hand the creator should be on the responsible for checking up on his project. So it's a really good double edge here. The GPL both helps and screws him at the same time.

I'm not going to say getting rid of facebook is a good idea but it might be a good idea to tone down what you can do on facebook, social networking is one thing but facebook is social re-engineering. Turning face to face into face to profile or face to picture.

I do have a facebook account but I haven't updated it in 3 years which is about when I made it. If you want to keep your life private don't put it on the web. How hard is it to just pass a USB key or pass a memory key and let your real friends see your pics / status or anything else you feel like sharing.

You named one author, odd that there are thousands of others who write Operating System books and write them far better then Andrew S. Tanenbaum. I'm not going to say he's not well known but he's a horrible author.

Out of the last 5 I've read for my class ALL OF THEM, use direct code source from Unix and Linux to help explain ideas and NONE OF THEM use code from the Windows Operating System. You can say it's becasue Windows is closed source but it shouldn't matter if it's for educational referance and as far as I know before every OS course students take a Linux course because Windows can't handle OS development. In fact I can't think of much you can do on Windows except wait for the little hour glass to pass and reboot.

You design Operating Systems on Operating Systems and thats why ever single student who learns about Operating Systems takes a Linux or Unix course so they know what a real OS works and runs like.

And if for some reason you didn't take a Linux course before an OS course then you better be able to show me how to run a new memory manager on top of Windows or run a new Process Controller or anything thats requried when testing and designing an Operating System and oh ya show me how run a customer kernel from the Windows boot loader cause you can't do that either.

In fact I want someone to prove to me that Linux and Unix are not the best designed Operating Systems. You can start by showing me how to test and develope a new Operatering System right on Windows, no cygwin no Linux tool chain ports, use Visual or DevC++ and show me.

  21. Re:Thats not surprising! on Linux Reaches 32% Netbook Market Share · · Score: -1

I base it on the fact I've done OS design in college and designed my own OS from the ground up and had to do full OS research and study. Everything about Windows is poorly desiged, viewing a process as an object is completely wrong. Windows has poor use of IPC, poor memory management and infact every OS book you'll ever consult uses Linux / Unix as a base when talking about OS design.

So I'm not just saying Linux isn't Windows, I'm saying Linux isn't Windows because Windows is designed by a bunch of apes who have no concept of good OS practice. If Windows was designed properly why is it never used for a basis of study in OS fundemental books, I've read a ton and never once seen it used.

They use Linux and Unix because Linux and Unix are designed properly with good practice and proper methodology.
