    Apparently we have convicted one guy for spreading hate against Homosexuals. Though he ws acquitted in the supreme court on very shaky grounds.

    I know only of Nazis being convicted of hate speech[1] in Sweden. But even though they have been convicted they get away with a lot. I would say that the swedish police is more worried about the miltant groups that oppose nazis than the nazis themself.

    If Sweden was really serious about "hate speech", they'd have to outlaw Islam and Catholicism as they are currently being practiced, because those religions are intrinsically in conflict with hate speech laws.

    I'm not entirely sure what you mean.. Why should we outlaw an whole religion just because there are people with in that religion that have an unfounded for hate other groups.

    We are not against hate, it's the hate propaganda that we are against. Propaganda that creates things like Rwandan Genocide.

    I know of just one priest that got put infront of a judge in Sweden and he said something like "Homosexual are a deep cancer of sociecty"[1]. He was not convicted, but I'm sure if you give us one of the US pastors of hate we can put him in jail.

    Should be pretty trivial to track you down if you are in a country with data retention laws. But you are tight there are several ways you can communicate anonymously without using Freenet, but that's not the point.

    Interesting I just read about Swedens data retention laws and it only stores the time you had an IP address... That's very... Strange.

    power wasted by incandescent light is almost completely converted into heat


    The most stupid way of heating a house is when you try to heat it from above, and the worst kind of light is the one that comes from bellow. Just make your radiator output more heat..

    Trying to heat a house on electricty is usually alot more dirty than almost all other means.

    It's the same here in Sweden, we used to write our publications in Latin but have in later years switched to English. Especially when you collaborate over boarders.

    I had a professor that was very sold on using biological brain ideas for computers, and for all his ideas non really seemed that good enough at that time. Probably because because I knew too little, and the way the brain functions is a bit too complex for us atm.

    The things you say are very good ideas, but trying to implement them even in an OCR is very hard....

    Well Just go abroad for one day, and you will feel the pain, I did when I went to Finland.. It's not about not needing roaming, it's about not using roaming because it's impossible to use. I don't know much about roaming in the US but I'm guessing it's actually possible to use the same service in NYC and LA, in Europe that's impossible.

    We are the hillbillies of roaming.

    His prof (a woman, let's call her Dolores) gave him a ZERO for his efforts. A ZERO for handing his own work (again), when she herself was too lazy to come up with her own assignment.
    Aren't you a sexist pig.. ;-) Seriously I don't think this has anything to do with the fact that the professor was a woman..

    But I think you are right on the fact that you need to complete the test anyway. Most home assignments are actually ment for you to study the whole semester and not cram everything in the end..

    I found too often I was shelling out answers to people who were just writing stuff down and never returning any value to the group or me personally. As such, I saw no value to my academic career in continuing this practice.

    Sadly a very common perspective, try not too get caught in this way of thinking. Yes it's hard to find people that are as good as you are on the same subjects, but they probably can help in other areas. Then again education is only about yourself, not something you try to achieve together, which you need to do when you start working.

    I wouldn't give a second thought to the likelihood of the Cuban figures being anything other then what some government official's decided they ought to be.


    There are a lot of doctors in Cuba... So we now they spend lots of money on the problem, these doctors are well educated and often in my experience very anti Castro.

    If we are talking about photos and drawings it works very well to recreate content, and that's how most photographers and illustrators get their pay by recreating already existing content.

    This would give the rise of databases of old pictures, where the tags/categories are copyrighted through database copyright. So you have people earning "easy" money on other peoples creations.

    Well atleast you can tie your gtalk account to AIM so all your AIM contacts shows up there, I don't have any AIM contacts so I don't know if it works. But somtimes get errors telling me AIM isn't working, so I guess it should work..

    Extended copyright discourages innovation by encouraging people to "rest on their laurels". 50 years is too much. 20 years should be more than enough.


    You could also say that it encourages innovation because people have to iterate over the same subject several times, making new variations of it. Instead of just copying something old.

    Everything you do on this project, whether just asking a question on a forum or posting a small patch will give MS more momentum, and takes away the same momentum from true free software. So you are not only giving your time away for free, you are also adding value too a commercial research project.

    I'm sure alot of people will be very excited about this, I mean almost everything is done in c#. Looking at the build instructions it goes something like this:

    • compile C#
    • convert C# into x86 binaries
    • dump headers for C++ and assembler
    • make a 16/32 bit bootstrap
    • boot

    That looks sweet to me, and it would be perfect if you want to develop an operating system without doing bit masking on stuff from a obscure bus.

    Actually you can know how much something effects the environment, there are standardized ways to evaluate a products effect on the environment through its life. I don't think you will get the whole picture with mines etc, but you will get CO^2 emission levels.

    There is a recent study on e-readers vs. paper magazines done here in Sweden.

    The most important part of getting a Green computer is the cost to the environment to produce the computer. Buying new computers just to get a green computer is hence very stupid. Better than try to build a green computer would be to use an old computer and go over to green electricty. If you are going to buy a slow VIA computer yo umight as well have an old computer.

    The problem with costs today is that no long term costs are included in prices, copper mines that poison areas bigger than Los Angeles have no obligation to pay for what they destroy. The mining inudstry is very very dirty, they some are situated near natural reserves, which mean we are going to have to fix everything after they have shut down.

    There are mines in Sweden that are still being cleaned up, 30 years after shutting down.

    Linux do cache all requests to the disk so I really don't see why you would need to use toram to get more speed. The only thing I can see is the ability to use the DVD drive. Sure seek times during boot are going to be eliminated, but you can do a precache stage in the boot instead.

    But I always have wondered does linux cache the compressed blocks, or the uncompressed?

    Actually it is, because when you are raping someone because they represent something you hate, then you are also giving out an threat to every one who belongs to that comunity. Since you tell the people that think like you that someone is lesser worth and should be raped, I think you are guilty of speading propaganda.

    I don't think you have come along way, if it still happens, if the attitude remains you still have a big problem. So don't go belittling it.
