  1. Free stuff! on Another Free Cue* Gadget At Radio Shack · · Score: 3

I picked mine up at the shack on Wednesday. Its basically an audio patch wedge on one end, and a stereo mini-jack on the other. Go get one and give fake info. For some reason, they dont even include software with them, but you can get it with a cuecat.... if ya WANT it.

  2. Just work out a deal! on When Personal Projects Start To Conflict w/ Work? · · Score: 2

Talk to the client directly(On your own time, and NOT over company e-mail.) Tell them that said project is already near completion, and that you can do it for less than what your company can. Dont let your company screw you. This is YOUR work, and YOUR project. You deserve YOUR cash.

I am TIRED of seeing people who develop things on their own time get screwed because their company feels that they own you every goddamn hour of the day. Sure, they can tell you what to do when you are on their clock, but when you are not, it is your time! Employment is a contract saying "I'll do said work for said pay". Its not signing your mortal soul and every waking hour to them!

  7. Same here (High School) on Campus Pipeline: Schools Selling Students' Eyes · · Score: 2

Last year, my school (WestMoore high in Oklahoma City) got a rather speedy internet connection, and it was simply a direct tcp/ip pipe to the 'net. I returned for my senior year and found that my school is now filtering websites using the 'Bess' system. I now have no access to any webmail, web storage, good content, shockwave games, or anything not using IE to access the 'Net. Many of these restrictions have no base in logic whatsoever. I must have some place to store my C++ files, as a disk doesen't work worth a damn, and the teacher has some mental addiction to ghosting the hard drives on a bi-weekly basis. Another problem is that my school is now pimping my eyes off for some reason. On EVERY webpage, it places its own banner. It can't even detect frames, so it REALLY fux0rs frames. I miss my freedom.

I just asked for the thing at RS, gave a name and address(annoying customer hassle!), and they gave me the bag with the cue, some papers and a CD. I did not have to read any sort of copyright crap, nor did I click an I AGREE button. I simply ripped the plastic open, extracted my scanner, and dumped the remaining materials directly in the local trash bin. I have not agreed to any sort of loan, nor did I agree to any sorta recall.

Actually, the gov't cannot prosecute for a crime committed before there was a law present. Such an act would be an Ex Post Facto law. Toysmart continued to collect info on underage children AFTER the law was enacted. This just shows what a half-assed operation with NO respect for privacy they were. Find the name of their CEO, and never do buisness with a company of his in the future.
