You are -- so -- wrong. The glasses are regular wine glasses, no holes drilled on them. They started with a tone generator, found the resonance tone of the glasses (something like 577Hz or near), amped it enough to break some glasses. Ah, they had a "sound focuser" (a piece of wood with a 1 inch hole they used in front of the speaker, at 1/2 the height of the glass), but the glasses were regular, out-of-the box glasses. Then Jaime Vendera (voice coach) came in, sang in the tone, amped, bang! broke some more glasses. Then Jamie and Adam tried (with the amp) -- Jamie couldn't break the glass (I don't know if his mustache muffled his voice, or if he couldn't get to the right tone, because his voice is so bass) but Adam broke some glasses. Then Vendera came and broke two or three glasses, without the amp. I don't believe Mythbusters would risk their credibility by "doctoring" the video... they could have busted the myth and things would look equally well for them. To be fair, Vendera held the glass less than 1 inch right in front of his mouth, which is why he did not need the "sound focuser" to break the glasses.

And usually, they go in person into the "dangerous" stuff, like quicksand, inside a bathtub when someone drops a turned-on toaster in it. And don't forget Adam lost an eyebrow once:-)
This show aired (rerun) yesterday here. Jamie wasn't capable of breaking the glass even with the amplifier, but Adam did it. The guy (a pro singer) broke it easily with an amplifier, and also broke it w/o using the amplifier.
Sony's CD copy protection installs in your Windows machine a rootkit that renders invisible any file whose name starts with '$sys$'. The *nix joke "word^Wother" (also written "word^H^H^H^H") meant: i wrote "word", but repented and erased it (with one control-w or N control-h keys) and substituted it for "other". The newly made Sony/Windows joke "$sys$word other" means: "word" becomes invisible and, just as in the unix case, I am saying "other" (when I really mean the harsher "word"). Funny thing is, it's not as funny when I explain it.:-(
what about a serious and renowed technology firm? These guys have your team ready and can assemble/send you a new one -- a GOOD one -- in a matter of days. OR they can manage them for you. Disclaimer: I don't work for them, I do NOT receive any $$$ from them, but most of them are former University colleagues of mine, and I can vow for their honesty and seriousness. Visit their website, give their clients a call, give them a call, IIRC they can even send someone to talk to you in person.
from the bottom to the top: I wonder how much it would cost to remove the 910 meter hill, no wires or mirrors needed. Answer: far (more than 100x) more (a 910m high hill is a lot of soil/stone to be removed) than to build a simple mirror in a town renowed for its glass work. Allowing those that earned the money to keep it would be good for the economy too Have you considered that some of the people in that town earned part of said money, too, and that the outcome of this is more money both for the town and the EU? That is the reason why countries subdisize their products -- the producer wins, the country also wins.
The question is: "why would anyone want to watch tv shows or movies on that small of a screen?" The answer is: "because a laptop is not really usable in a bus or train, but watching an episode of House (*) during those commuting times would be great even if you have to squint your eyes a little." (*) any other dialogue-based (as opposed to full-imagery-based) show would be nice.
The part where "the value of the project is paid by less than one year off the taxes the people of the city already pays and normally goes to subsidize other stuff, and now will be well used to create/construct something that will most certainly generate a lot of money (tourism, replenishing the human resources of the town) that will translate into more taxes being generated in that town that would some day be used to clean French and Belgian streets that are filthy (not that I know many -- in my trips to Paris and one of my friends' trip to the Loir valley we encountered clean streets, too)".
they already have clean streets (Austrian places I visited had remarkably clean streets), and now they want some light at winter. I say more power to them.
That spending money on "constructing" something is giving a job to someone, and it's way better than giving the money to the same person that is suddently out of a job (because you didn't spent the money in the first place?)
in MHO, it works: award all of your hard-or-not-so-hard-earned money to the silly stupid victim is a real punishment; people don't want to do THAT. In fact, I think a lot of people would prefer a couple of years in the can instead.:-)

If you read the materials on the issue the numbers are equalizing as men are now more likely to exercise their right to press charges dispite the fact that there is a stigma for reporting women on men violence.
I know that women of midlle-to-upper class, or maybe lower-class in a USofAn/EUan big city are now more likely to exercise their right. But I assure you, in smaller communities, other cultures (Latin America, Africa, some parts of Asia) and lower social classes what I stated is the rule.
** my feelings gathered in the two years I was a paralegal in a DA's office, and in the nine/ten years my wife (who is a DA) spent in prosecuting cases:: (the rest comes here)
As a paralegal, and having a DA wife, and having lived the day-by-day routine in police precincts and courts of law, I'll assure you (by ad hominem argument only) that I am right. An enormously great part of the violence victims I saw: * were women * were battered by boyfriend/hubby * and would not press charges (necessary in this jurisdiction for the DA to prosecute the case). You can believe me or not. Your problem.

it was not. AFAIK it was "time shifting", a form of "fair use".

In Brasil, copyright infringiment of computer programs (in particular) can land you in jail for six months to four years.

Copyright infringement is a criminal offense. It shouldn't be. Period.
