    People think it because it often does. Survival of this species has partially depended upon the ability to reocgnize patterns and make decisions with limited information.

    That holds true for correct (or not seriously wrong) decisions. In the general case, a Darwin award is a far more probable outcome.

    Greek Penal Code Chapter 7:

    • Article 198: Cursing God in public and with a malicious intention is punishable by prison and/or fine. So is showing disrespect towards deities.
    • Article 199: Cursing or otherwise ridiculing (in public and maliciously) the Eastern Orthodox Church or any other officially recognized church is punishable by prison and/or fine. (officially unrecognized churches have no rights, and certain eastern orthodox priests routinely curse them in public and very maliciously if I am any judge)

    If I'm not entirely mistaken, the photographer maintains the copyright, but the publishing on wikipedia under the creative commons allows everybody to use the photography as long as the photographer is credited.

    I don't think it counts as "copyright" to them if you cannot make $$$ out of it (preferably by suing some 6 year old or sth).

    Don't kid yourself that any politician in the history of the US has ever thought (or will ever think) to themselves "well, I WANT to do X, but since the citizens have so many guns, maybe that wouldn't be a good idea."

    Except of course for "X=gun abolition".
