Right. Copyright holders have complete control over their code. Did I state anything to the contrary? Getting a proprietary license from somebody means you are no longer dealing with GPL'd code. You are getting code released under another license by the copyright holder.
GPL unlimited use is a freedom provided to the end-user not to a distributor. There are no limits to what the developer can do with GPL licensed code assuming you don't distribute it. But there are limits to how you can distribute the resultant GPL'd code (assuming you don't own all the copyrights to the code). But you can definitely make money off of it. You can sell anybody's GPL'd code legally as long as you provide access to the source. That being said proprietary publication of binaries only is strictly forbidden and you are correct in asserting that.
To me it just sounded like somebody is proposing another open source alternative without a barrage of security holes being discovered. I think the implication is that ISC Bind has bad code quality, and this is an alternative.
If Sun released ZFS under the GPL they could also release it as CDDL. They could release it as proprietary if they fucking want. The only thing releasing code under the GPL means is that they can no longer revoke the GPL from that codebase and any GPL code added to it. It wouldn't stop Sun from doing anything, except incorporating any additions to the GPL codebase into their pet CDDL or proprietary lines.
I know this is probably nit picking, but when I saw that.exe attached to the end of my mono compiled test program, I quit using it. Mono, in and of itself, is not a sign of Microsoft encroaching on the Linux desktop. But Mono not going its own direction instead of endlessly trailing Microsoft's direction is. Mono should have taken what is standardized and run with it. Making a competing dev environment not just reimplementing yet another Microsoft environment.
No, analog degradation is gradual but always present and increases with distance. Digital degradation does not even exist until a certain threshold of signal quality is passed, and then drops off steeply.
Additionally, programmers have copyrights, and software should not even be patentable. And if open source software devs having a ego-inflation from their work means they are not charitable, then the freaking ego-masturbation known as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation should not be considered charitable also.
That's amazing. Now how about you give the prices of: case, power supply, CD/DVD drive, keyboard, laser mouse, monitor, speakers, and value of your time spent on building it.:-P
I'm tired of waiting for fsck to force run every 30 boots or having to disable it otherwise. Autofsck needs to be at a minimum included in the repositories and at best be mandatory on a desktop install.
Just because you can't wrap your head around it, doesn't mean it can't be done. You can sell development as a service. As in pay me to do certain things for you. But you only have to pay me once for it.
I really hope he doesn't compete. I would love it, LOVE IT if there actually was a dominant open platform. Especially the emerging cell phone market. To be able to do whatever the hell you want with what you buy..... how novel.
Well, despite the fact that OpenMoko is using OpenEmbedded which is designed to run on everything it can (Zaurus, Compaq, etc.). I remember reading about people who have put OpenMoko on their phones. Its not selling on any other phones at the moment. And most of the work is going into the FIC Neo 1973, but the OpenMoko platform is a platform designed to be run on other phones. I lurk in the #openmoko IRC channel, and I can't find specific instances of other people using it at the moment. So, I guess I'll have to retract the statement that it is being used in other phones. But they designed the daemons and everything to be portable.
Or they might be a Ford. Since Ford now uses Microsoft software in its nav/stereo/whatever computer.
Ignore my other post. I thought you were refuting what I said for a minute there.

I don't know but apparently they think that videos from the Angry Video Game Nerd go too far. They completely canceled his account a few days ago.
Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.
Yeah, I read about that in Greenpeace's latest 20 page printed pamphlet that they keep spamming me with.

I don't think the people who marked you as funny actually appreciate the brevity with which you explained our current problem.

Firefox is not a compound word. A Firefox is also known as a Red Panda.

It doesn't make sense to write _only_ for Windows either.
Openness??? Hahahaha, you must mean cross-platform incompatibility.

I don't get it? Is it not obvious to create a Node class that has a data, and next attribute? What kind of responses do you get?
Its only good to ensure that not ALL of your money goes to other people.
You can get a FIC Neo right now. It just doesn't have all the final hardware revisions specs.
No its more like comparing a real OS to a candy caned kiddy toy. Mwahahahaha flame on!!!!
