250M is a fairly reasonable size for a medium sized carrier. You're just used to Nimitz sized behemoths.

For example, the UK carriers, Hermes Invincible and Ark Royal were approximately 210meters in length. Such a carrier could easily launch F-35 VSTOL or similar with no problem.

With regard to section 2 of Article 10, you have to show that any of the exceptional clauses are "necessary in a democratic society". If you can demonstrate to the court that its not necessary even if a law was aimed at prevention of disorder or crime, then its interpreted as a breach of the ECHR. Protecting morals for example has generally been interpreted in the European Court as a weak-assed defense and not necessary.

The licensing of limited resources is perfectly legitimate, but licensing of items such as a satellite dish to receive such things is not. Actually this is the first time I've noticed this - one wonders if it is possible to challenge the legitimacy of the UK TV license as a breach of ECHR law....

No we don't have a Bill of Rights, but we do have the European Convention on Human Rights incorporated into UK Law, which does have an Article 10: Freedom of Expression. There are restrictions in the European version as opposed to the simpler US one though....

  13. Mail charge on Door-To-Door Mail Delivery To End Under New Plan · · Score: 1

With the decrease in the volume of mail, it is obvious that charging for premium delivery services is a necessity. The obvious answer is to have cluster delivery as the default and have a charge (say $200/year) for doorstep/curbside delivery.

Other options to consider are to only deliver second class/low priority items once or twice a week. Most postal communication would not regret/miss the cutback in the number of deliveries, and those that do could again pay for premium rapid delivery.

Claire Perrys comments may be libellous, as the UK has a more extensive libel law than the US. Fun, games and large legal fees may be forthcoming.....

A recent example can be found on Twitter remarks by Sally Bercow, which cost her lots of legal fees and a substantial settlement. The irony of Claire Perry getting whipped in court over a freedom of speech issue would cause a massive outbreak of schadenfreude across the UK.....
