    It would be a laugh if she sang "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper" while up there - she may even get her money back in royalties for that performance.

    The lack of cures is simply down to the fact that most of the 'low hanging fruit' in terms of pharmaceutical treatments has already been discovered.
    Also the costs of getting a drug approved has gone up and up. It is probable that some drugs such as paracetamol would not be approved nowadays either, at least not as available OTC (over the counter) without prescription.

    AIDs is an extremely complex disease which shows some ability to adapt itself when under attack. No cure is likely to be simple

    There's a huge range of GU10 LED options, some with narrow beams, some with spreads of up to 120 degrees. I tend to go for a mix in my light fittings, for example using 2 wide spread for overall lighting and 2 for spot illumination.

    Democrats complain Republicans don't focus on jobs, but when this lightbulb legislation shutdown a factory and many people lost their jobs and Republicans try to prevent that, Democrats complain.

    Why should it cost jobs? I'm pretty certain most of the CFC/LED bulb technology is western in origin, and the markups on such bulbs are probably bigger than the old filament bulbs, so why is there not a shiny US factory making these things?

    What happened to the concept of a "jury of peers" as in English law (i.e. equals)? If corporations are people in the USA, then the jury in a trial between corporations over technical issues should consist of retired (as in no ax to grind) design engineers with experience of the patent, trademark and design system. This won't happen because they would rapidly expose the ignorance of the lawyers, simply by the questions they would ask. But it would eliminate an awful lot of bad decisions and legal costs.

    Yes but the foreman was such a person, and used his experience of the system to testify rather than to base the decision on the evidence.

    I personally think that a small decision either way would have been regarded as just, but this decision made a bad joke of the US IP judicial system.

    The problem is that the means of implementing that goal is described in the vague term "on a computer". Sometimes it expands this into the various components of a computer, but I suspect it's still enough to walk round the functional claiming defense mentioned.

    I seem to recall reading that printed components are only about 10-30% of the strength of components made by alternative techniques e,g, injection mo(u)lding.

    Would it not have been a good idea to create a mo(u)ld around this component and then create a much stronger beak?

    Have a BSc or better (normally in Computer Science or similar IT degree), plus several years real job experience. As someone has pointed out, being a significant contributor in Open Source projects may also get you noticed.

    It doesn't rule you out of being an IT freelancer, but I suggest you plan an educational and career path, as good pay only comes with good qualifications or job experience.

    Send unmanned supply vehicle(s) ahead of the mission.

    If we can now park 1 tonne loads on Mars with some precision, it shouldn't be rocket science groan to send some supply drops to the landing area before the colonists/settlers arrive.

    It's possible some of these drops could be hydroponically controlled environments, so that there is the possibility of some fresh food on Mars on arrival.

    Or get McDonalds to start a franchise there....

    Actually I work away from home for several weeks at a time, and the backlog of paper mail that builds up over such periods is quite substantial. I sometimes think I got married just so I could have someone to take care of it for me :-P

    Are you keeping your current home? If not, what will you use as an address? You will have problems with things like driver's licenses if you don't have a permanent address.

    Well since he's coming out of his mom's basement to go mobile, I'm sure she will continue to let him use her mailbox....
