Question why you need to go to University if you're already becoming successful. Taking your eye of the ball can be fatal to the operation of your company.
Secondly in the UK there are Open University courses which allow you to get a degree at home - You do about 90% of the work at home and attend the actual university for some workshop type courses - I'll be very surprised if there isn't an equivalent in the US (or wherever you live)
Actually you are right - the plot lines are remarkably similar when reduced to their basic ingredients, but the first one (Death - On a Pale Horse) and the second to last (Satan - For the Love of Evil) are the better of the series of seven.
Piers makes some statements about his opinions in his newsletter, where he talks about Harlan Ellisons battle against piracy. He's not really in favour of file sharing.
Having said that, if he is aware of the situation, I would be interested in his take on the battle Linux has had to incorporate DVD support and still remain Open Source. If he's made aware of some of the "cons" that increased copyright legislation is having on the operating system he has decided to use then he may adopt a more balanced viewpoint.....
Piers does comment on his website that he objects to "information sharing" and internet stealing of his and other peoples works (fair enough IMO), but it would be interesting to hear his response on this exact question.
i.e. do you regard it as right that authors should receive 75-95 years of protection whereas an inventors work will only be protected by patent for 15-20 years?
[My personal belief is that about 15-20 years should be good enough for both]
IIRC, some CVS GUI and support tools are developed on Sourceforge as well as a number of projects of interest to programmers in business everywhere. I'm sure a rummage around sourceforge would reveal a number of non-gaming projects which would be of interest to a business software developer. Whilst businesses may not be likely to use GPL software as part of their products, they will happily use GPL development tools.
Filters are so damn arbitrary and time consuming. For example I'm currently working for a company developing satellites and satellite management systems, but often you have to waste time getting round the filter to access articles of interest. (For example, a large number of US papers are blocked)
The only thing a filter ought to block is p0rn, known virus afflicted sites, and possibly MP3 type downloads in the light of current litigation. Even then I could name some businesses which would be exceptions to the above rules
.....but thse guys are just begging to be done over.
Making statements like that just invite the RIAA to sue their asses, wave these statements in court and walk home with a self satisfied smile on their faces as they drag the asses of these people in chains behind them.
Anyone point me in the direction of a negative scanner that can also handle 126 (Instamatic cartridge format) negatives as well as 35mm ? IIRC 126 format film is not same width as 35mm (or is it?)
35mm film is currently superior to most forms of digital photography, with a resolution equivalent to about 10-15 megapixels IIRC.
That said - I'm damned if I can tell the quality difference between a 2400x1800 digital shot and a 35mm photo. I believe you'll only notice the difference if you blow the image up from the slide/negative or get the magnifying glass out....
TiVo (the PVR) is more friendly to hackers and actively support them, so I came to the following idea where you can piss Microsoft off a little and add to your TiVo at the same time. As Microsoft plan into making future generations of XBox a Personal Video Recorder, what about killing them stone dead by installing MAME on a TiVo?
First generation TiVOs may not have enough CPU power to simultaneously play video games and record, but the second generation ones have faster CPUs. They're probably not up to leading edge games but early arcade games should be no problem.
Demonstrate that being hostile to hackers is not a good thing.

Ah the halcyon dayas of coding forms. I think you were lucky that it was only a number/letter confusion.
When I did this stuff, any resemblance of the entered program to the one I wrote on the form was purely coincidental.

As MSNBC is connected to Microsoft, they should, as an ethical news organisation, reveal this either in the article, or at the end.

Anyone want a Dell Inspiron 8200 so I can run Doom 3 on whatever I replace it with ? ;-)
Bloody laptop video cards should be replaceable like their bigger brethren
Locate a few nodes Personal Telco Nodes right next to the Starbucks so the signal can't get out - they will get the message real fast then.....
The phone lines probably go through some conduits in the ground, so why not route the Ethernet cable through the same conduit?
Be a good test for RFC1149 and RFC2549!!
The localroger casino stories [links in parent] are some of the most entertaining online articles I've ever read. If you haven't read them, do so now.
But yes - Linux is seen as a crack ball OS. Have you seen a picture of Alan Cox lately?
I'm tempted to say that I will know Linux has become the mainstream OS when I see a picture of Alan Cox in a suit without his beard.

Rocks!!
Janny Wurts has written several other good books (as well as a few that suck - the Masters of Light and Shadow just drag on too much IMO)

First mobile Matrox Parhelia based laptop with two extra fold out screens for 3 head surround video!
Have USB interfaces IIRC, so you can put your favourite tool in the appropriate orifice and play to your hearts content!
