If the wanted to sell food, he will spend months on paperwork for all the permits and inspections. And it's distribution channels are just as mob controlled as drugs.     Why should routine health care not be a personal responsibility like anything else in life?

    Too expensive... even for healthy people. Then the damn doctor is prescribing all sorts of unnecessary procedures and drugs. (you have high blood pressure, you're overweight) Get a second opinion? (okay, you're ugly, too) Oh yeah, let's double the cost

    Maybe not a bad idea, but I believe it would be better to draft politicians. It's the only way to get a decent character into the job. The people who actually want it are obviously unfit.

    And to hell cost/benefit ratios. If the patient wants to live, you do everything possible. If he doesn't, you let him go. Relief of suffering is all that matters, regardless of economic cost.

    Money is NOT power.. Money is money, and speech is speech. The desire for money is the power to be exploited. And as far as I'm concerned "McCain-Feingold" is a violation of the first amendment. There's no law requiring to anybody to believe or act on any speech.

    It is truly naive to take a "privacy policy" seriously. Opt-in, opt-out, it doesn't matter. "Your call may be recorded for 'training purposes'".. Our economic system demands it. It will always be this way until we drown all the bankers and their lawyers (metaphorically, of course!) and try a different system of trading goods and services where nobody can acquire undue influence over another. Something that prohibits hoarding and speculation.
