    ...we have in both countries (and in most other so-called democracies) is a plutocracy - rule by the rich - with cosmetic elements of democracy to keep the masses quiet.

    As has been said many thousands of times before.. What's the solution? Or at least the workaround? Can it be done peacefully?

    I'm sorry... Was he actually convicted? Or under investigation? I mean, TFA says ...may have been involved in the drug trade as a dealer... And how does anybody know he 'fled the country'? We've seen plenty of cases where the government has used pure hearsay to convict and kill people, so I guess it's okay now for the rest of us to do the same thing now? This is truly one of the greatest 'accomplishments' of the Bush/Obama regimes. All rules of evidence can now be thrown out the window.

    Sad as it may be, Al Franken has very little real influence on policy, and unless he toes the party line, he will never acquire any. Yeah, he will go through all the motions, but he will accomplish little while looking good to the voters. If you want to get the straight dope, you need to talk to a mafia chieftain or anybody else way up high in the contraband business. All the rest are just mannequins. Good luck!

    He voted against prop 19 in California, for what he says was a lack of regulatory bureaucracy(!). Yes, he says they should jail smokers, but only of the evil weed. It's always best to ignore what people say when it conflicts with what they do. In other words, he wants the government out of his (or like minded) life, not mine, or possibly yours. Confusion rules the day...

    One social solution would be to regulate cross-border traffic such that eCommerce vendors (CAs included) that wish to conduct cross-border traffic (whether into the country or between boundaries within it)...

    A much better social solution would be to tear down the borders. They're only there to perpetuate the slave trade anyway. Making them more restrictive is exactly the opposite of what is needed.

    If you packets don't go through their white list of 'approved' or 'authorized' sites, they will be silently dropped. And besides, there's always DPI and various other methods they are not at liberty to divulge. On their line, there is no hope, even with chaff and other distraction measures. A wireless mesh is your only insurance. Otherwise you takes yer chances.
