BSA appears to have their servers down. Could this be another instance of slashdot recklessly endangering a business's computer infrastructure by linking? You be the judge.
But wouldn't the sphere's inertia cause a noticable lag when you start or stop walking, or when you change direction? They don't address it, and I'll remain dubious until I roll it on my own.
They could vary the mass of the sphere according to your mass. If you have a sphere made of a chunk of steel it'll take a lot of effort to overcome it's inertia, but if it was made of styrofoam (remember, this is hypothetical) it would go spinning every which way. I imagine after some R&D they could come up with a platform which could have it's mass adjusted on the fly.
Anyone attempting to develop a Left Handed Coffee Cup or designing technology designed to duplicate the function of the left handed coffee cup without the proper license will be hunted down like dogs(like reverse engineering a right handed coffee cup - that's a no no) and they will feel the full wrath of my lawyers.
This is my patent.
Likewise with my patent on the Ambidextrious Coffe Cup.
Others have turned the CueCat into a remote control and -- by removing the internal circuit board and replacing it with a pair of batteries -- a mini torch.
How the hell do you do that? I'd pay 20 bones for a cue cat license in that case.
I personally feel that they shouldn't have to open up their standard. People of course can hack into it and piggy back likethey have been. There was a group that got together to make their own standard. Why hasn't this progressed any further? Is it not hot enough news for slashdot?
Now, having said all this, the biggest problem I had with the Glasstron is: simply too many wires. The concept, as I say, is sound, but you wind up being the center of a tangle of wires. One single wire I would not mind, and if it went to a PDA, I'd be esctatic.
got to make that baby wireless.

Those brilliant Isaelis have made a device that jams every single fucking freq that cell phones use. Makes a 300 meter bubble around you. Wouldn't you love to take that with you to the movie theater or restaurtant? Unfortunately it's illegal for import and use in the US. Don't let that stop you! Make your own.
Well I fired up Gnutella and did a search on "enforcer". Guess what I found! Media Enforcer, of course. You know, it's pretty nice piece of software. All they need to add is ping info and I'd be finding me some mp3s. The version I found only searched napster though.
2.3 hours, or maybe 4.6. Read it in a novel a few years ago. You probably read the same one.:) The time would be the same if you dug a hole directly to Antwerp too. Doesn't matter what angle your tunnel is oriented towards. Just though I'd add that.
