Why wouldn't they use saltwater batteries? Submarines use them. The only thing they need to come up for anymore is food. They can be made on a much smaller scale that would be suitable for this.
You have no idea how often this point has fallen on deaf ears. Does no one understand? I had a girlfriend who was clueless about it. She never wore enough clothing in winter and consequently hated it.
Going through 4-5 years of college and not getting an internship, which would provide you experience and some contacts for the real world, seems foolhardy. I don't know your entire situation but I find it hard to believe that you were unable to get an internship or two while you were at school. Maybe you didn't fully appreciate what they could do for you, paid or not. I'm not picking at you. Maybe you just fell through the cracks in life in general here. I'm sure that if you have the skills and abilities neccesary you will be able to find a job. It won't come to you, though. If you need to, get back into college. Pursue a Master's degree, find a different field maybe. I know this; If you fail once, you can probably chalk it up to chance. Fail ten times and it's your fault. Either that or God hates you.;p I wish you only the best of luck.
Doesn't that figure? A piece of hardware that surely no one can work on and it's open to this kind of attack. Can they even upgrade the firmware within a reasonable amount of time over a modem connection?
Now maybe they can clear out some room for HACKING articles instead of this POOR-US-THE-MAN-IS-KEEPING-US-DOWN shite they've been passing off for the past couple years. Oh wait, the MPAA and RIAA are still around. Nevermind.
Can I get your opinion on which European countries are the best in terms of religious (and other forms of) tolerance? I'm getting awful sick of the religious attitude here in the U.S., and am seriously considering moving to somewhere that I don't have to fear getting lynched because I believe in a mythical superbeing. Suggestions?
Squeaky smiles, as though we haave just tossed the border into the realm of kidding around. "He's Sovereign."
"So declare war on him."
"It's not a good idea to declare war on a nuclear power"
"Huh?"
"Christ," Squeaky says, shaking his head, "if I had any idea how little you knew about this shit I never would have let you into my car. I thought you were some kind of serious CIC wet-operations guy. Are you telling me you really didn't know about Raven?"
"Yes, that's what I'm telling you."
"Okay. I'm going to tell you this so you don't go out and cause any more trouble. Raven's packing a torpedo warhead that he boosted from an old Soviet nuke sub. It was a torpedo that was designed to take out a carrier battle group with one shot. A nuclear torpedo. You know that funny looking sidecar that Raven has on his Harley? Well, it's a hydrogen bomb, man. Armed and ready. The trigger's hooked up to EEG trodes embedded in his skull. If Raven dies, the bomb goes off. So when Raven comes into town, we do everything in our power to make the man feel comfortable."
Hopefully someone actually reads this... What about using a suction cup or a realeasable vacuum of some sort? Might be tricky to rig , but it would seem doable. This way, you wouldn't have to worry about what kind of spindle it's on or doing something else like that. Cracking the disks wouldn't seem as likely as if you had something mechanical grabbing it.
Given two computers, each with a firewire port, neither with a NIC, how feasible is it to share files between the two computers?
Also, while we're on the topic of CAT5 cable, what is this new garbage I see at the stores called CAT6, and should anyone waste their money on it, considering the 1000BaseT runs over Cat5e?
I haven't done it myself but you can hook them up through a firewire hub. Probably even directly via a firewire cable. No need for a "crossover" since IEEE 1394 is self-negotiating. Windows XP sees an IEEE 1394 port as a network connection. It works pretty well, I'm told. I don't know how Win9x/ME handle this though. To answer your question about CAT6, it's just the successor to CAT5. CAT5e was developed to bridge the gap between CAT5 and CAT6, which wasn't quite ready yet. Kind of like this 2.5G stuff for cell phones we're hearing about because they can't get 3G out the door yet.
Are personal IP blocks going to be doled out for individuals with IPv6? Or will they be available from a government organization? This could be a new land rush.
If you want to help so bad, go over there yourself. Then you'll see who we're up against. Osama bin Laden could care less about your compassion. He wants you dead too.
Yes, you don't need to defrag, virus scan, worry about privacy issues, 'registration', or worry about BSODs, but yes, it will take us 2 hours to get yout ghetto ass CD burner working right.....
Got that right. My computer thinks it's SCSI for some reason or another. One weekend I'll get a few cases of Coke and beat it into submission. Good thing I have another computer hanging around to use it on the meantime.
I'm sorry, I know this is Anti-Open-Source (TM), but I think that GAIM is clearly trademark infringement. Adding one letter does not mean you're safe, any more than a clone of Windows named GWindows would be reasonable.
Or X Windows. ; )
Seeing as how it's highly unlikely that any person who isn't already using Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris et. all has even heard of GAIM, how is this confusing? Even if a windows user manages to download the an rpm or the source, what are they going to do with it? Install Linux on their box so they can run it? Of course! They'll probably just try to "run this program from current location".;p
AOL has a Linux client now, but who would want to use it?
...the fact that a trademark has not been officially registered in no way means it isn't valid. Lawyer-speak at its best.
Yes it does. Trademark "infringement" cases have to be litigated, otherwise that trademark can be forfeit. Also, "Fight fire with fire" et cetera, et cetera... Am I wrong? Probably.
I've thought about his myself. All those companies whose software didn't get sold because Microsoft said they would be releasing a program that would do the same thing, (only better of course). What would have happened if they had opened their source? Isn't that code still around somewhere? They should GPL it now. It may end stagnant on sourceforge or freshmeat but at least it will have had its shot.
Go with Caffinated Networks. Outstanding service and support. Saying anything more is pointless, you just have to check it out.

What are the possibilities of linking 3 or 4 computers? Do existing firewire hubs allow this to work?

Any watermark or serializing would be destroyed in the conversion process. So there.

I'd be interested in hearing this. See how he would feel about distributing his music.

Bluetooth in this thing would rock!

Why bother getting into the gun debate on slashdot? It just makes all sides look like a pack of wild assholes.

Earthlink and Sprint have been partners for a while. It seems more likely that they're just using the Sprint Broadband service.

Hmm what song is that from, I think it was weaser???
That would be Weezer, but no, it wasn't them. You're thinking of Harvey Danger and the hit song "Flagpole Sitta."
