Given there isn't anything in any current conflicts for us to get air superiority over, I'm OK with the F-22s sitting in their hangars and being used for training.

...in no large part either. SEAD is mostly dealt with by F-16s and F/A-18s.

The US has had early air superiority in every conflict since stealth aircraft have been available. So sure, compared to the B-52 it is an overpriced and over-designed batwing. Would that change against a better prepared opponent? Possibly. The B-2 simply hasn't been well tested in its intended role.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to claim people used to have more respect for one another (we can argue until we're blue in the face over that one). After all, this is a teenager with all the teenagerness that comes with. Simply put, I believe this kid is just another badass behind a keyboard who as you said wouldn't have the guts to repeat these comments in person.

Y'know, if these events didn't happen on the internets I don't think it would be handled much different. Say somebody shouted these same threats out at a high school football game (ignoring the fact that it would have been settled right there). In all likelihood, the police would have been sent to his home to have a talk and demonstrate that sort of behavior is not OK. If it happens again - that is when you make the arrests.

Of course, if I were Daley, I would use my winnings to travel around beating up everybody that offended me on twitter. He is an athlete after all, and the teenagers that spout this crap online are either gonna be lanky nerds or overweight nerds and easy to beat on.

I'm not generally a fan of rap, but you do have to understand that judging rap based on what you hear on a popular rap radio station is the same as judging other music based on the a popular top-40 radio station. There really is a great depth and breadth of rap music beyond the crap you've heard on the radio - stuff made by real musicians and artists who truly are skilled and passionate about what they do.

Whether or not you're into it is entirely up to you - but keep in mind judging all of rap by the gangsta bullshit put out by big names is exactly like judging all of rock music by the tripe put out by Nickelback.

I don't agree... Nowadays the tools to make music are so accessible that there is tons of music available. The challenge lies in sifting through the piles and piles of stuff you don't like to find something you do. Big music is still going to be the same canned crap it's always been, but if you can't find something out there you like I can't help but wonder how hard you've really tried?

Of course people will become hostile. It's because we're brought up to never ever ever cross some ill defined line in the sand, so if you insinuate somebody is approaching it they are going to get defensive. If we're instead taught that yeah, there's an ill defined line in the sand, so everybody should be tolerant and open about when others getting close to it.

This is exactly why I posted what I did - so much hoopla is made these days over *perceived* harassment that there is no longer an area for people to just be people anymore. I'm not condoning harassment by any means. I'm simply saying that as a society our first step should be to openly communicate with others when they approach those bounds instead of running off to file a report on it.

It was damn good slap in the face because it's absolutely true. Your police department, just like your schools, are local establishments that are beholden to their communities. If they are able to continually get away with things like this - it is because the community allows it.

I love my mutt (border collie/german shepherd) and though I like to think she'd kick some ass for me if needed, it's not something I count on. Unless you're getting one that's been specially trained you should get a dog because you want a dog, not because you want the protection of a big mean looking dog. I won't argue that handgun design has primarily been to shoot people as compared to rifles which can better adapt to hunting - but it certainly doesn't mean that the only purpose for a pistol is to shoot humans.
