    I can't see how anyone is surprised here.

    Would you purchase anything made by USA companies now if you want your data secure and safe?

    I gave up starting a cloud storage busines for companies hosting apps/storage because there is no way to claim you have a secure and safe storage system when the goon squad can come in with grenades and machine guns and blow the place up looking for any sort of activity they feel is not "legal".

    Secondly, the whole idea that companies outsource I.T. operations to reduce cost can't be made any more with any western institution. The result?

    About 40 people I was going to hire to start this business won't see the light of day.

    This is not just me either. In the investment circles I follow lots of people are leaving or simply shelving plans for any sort of real I.T. services expansion in the USA.

    Those companies that are left and do hosting, Amazon, Google, Microsoft are doing so only because they already share all of their clients data with the NSA/CIA and are permitted to exist as a result.

    The whoel thing is fascist and there is no competition under those sorts of conditions.

    I am talking about cancer not about heart attacks, just to clarify.

    By the way, you are correct, heart disease as a issue in humans is a bio-mechanical problem so it is much simpler to solve.
    (Essentially straight forward, since wee can design machines as well to replace the heart, or simply just cut stuff out that doesn't work.)

    So we can mitigate that much better than cancer (which is uncontrolled cell growth.)

    Still I can cite many cases where the medical, primarily Universities and Pharma companies have done some seriously dark deals in the back board rooms just to set back any advances using patents to protect cash flow.

    I know, because I worked in a Biotech company that would rather see you kill grandma than let go of its patents and cash flow. Everything else be damned including the set backs for DECADES it would cause in the cancer field.

    Not only are cures not profitable, they disrupt billions in cash flows for different treatment options for cancer.

    Any sort of cure in the field would probably put a bullseye on your forehead.

    Eventually we will have a cure for cancer and it will be HIGHLY regulated or sold to the highest bidder only like all valuable and rare commodities.

    You are seriously deluded if you think you are going to get any sort of medical care, and I don't care how much you pay.

    There are simply not enough doctors for what they propose.

    They will have to ration care and kill about 20% of the enrollee's to make it work, and ration about 45% of the rest of the coverage to death panels, who WILL DECIDE WHO DIES.

    The NASDAQ and DOW are nothing but places to dump crappy QE money.

    Industrial production and technology stocks should be around 1500 on the NasDAQ and slightly over 3000 on the DOW.

    Especially for a nation of FoodStamp enrollees and Walmart employees.

    There is no technology growth, industrial growth that I can see that justifies those numbers except for the FED printing gargantuan amounts of money.

    The problem with Scott Adams and the rest of the people, who seemingly ignore some 2000 years of history, as well as having very dim views of the human condition is anyone under the classification of Euthanasia, are going to be put to death ultimately by people who won't stop at human suffering.

    Philosophically speaking, human beings always get themselves into trouble trying to control the processes of life and in this case death which are completely natural.

    The pain of death and birth is something that was never decided on by any human being.

    Now we are trying to make those determinations with coin and a small committee under Obama Care.

    What are you talking about?

    Since the early 2000's the United States isn't the place for science anymore.

    Most of the revolutions in Energy production and industry will come from the far east.

    We haven't led the world in research since 2000.

    There is of course one exception, we are very good at making weapons.

    However, the science and technology of making aircraft, along with advanced atmospheric ad space propulsion systems is NOT TAUGHT at ANY University, and I think it is for obvious reasons which I won't get into here.

    So even the research we do lead in, you can't go anywhere and learn about it.

    I have been around for quite awhile, and the idea that man is destroying the planet rhough CO2 emmissions, is all crap. Look they even changed the name like several times because people know its crap. First they called in Human Centric Warming, when they couldn't find anything human about it, they needed a name nobody could argue with, so they renamed this crap to Global Climate Change.

    Which, nobody argues there is climate change. They mislead people by using the term when they are making their argument to enslave millions with carbon taxes, in the context of the lie: Man made Climate Change.

    Science is going down the toilet led by a handful of people at the World Bank buying all of this "research". Meanwhile to fund lavish lifestyles where they pay no taxes and are accountable to nobody.

    Follow the money on this stuff and you will find a banker very close nearby on all of this CO2 man made nonsense.

    I am so sick and tired of crap graphics on LINUX it isn't funny.

    A fully open source solution from Intel and perhaps AMD would absolutely destroy Nvidia in the LINUX space.

    I like the efforts so far AMD as made, and I applaud them for it, but it took them way too long.

    If Intel can come out with a better GPU, MESA would be able to achieve OpenGL 4+ compatibility much faster.

    Nividia mostly and to some part AMD has destroyed LINUX's ability to get onto the desktop.

    Part of this I think is due to board collusion between Nvidia and Microsoft.

    I would be a happy camper if I awakened the next morning and Microsoft and Nvidia's stock was officially DELISTED.

  14. Time and Education on A Math Test That's Rotten To the Common Core · · Score: 1

    One of the reasons why I do not finish my degree work is the experience I had when I was taking a computer science exam.

    After taking the exam and getting a C on it, I protested that the solution I worked out was correct for a linked list, and in fact was superior to the one on the exam due to the fact I used void types and malloc, and not a static typed array. My list could use any type element it wanted too.

    I was told I didn't follow directions and that the exam couldn't allow separate solutions because it would take too long to grade.

    I quickly found this too be the case for my Mathematics classes and got sick and tired of spending gant wads of cash, to argue over solutions because these dicks didn't have the time to grade my papers.

    Spending giant sums of money to a bunch of F'ing bankers and being told I just don't "get it" when I clearly was very good at CS was a lie.

    It was cool-aid I wouldn't drink, so I left college and got a job then later started my own company many many years later.

    Best decision I ever made in my entire life.

    Get rid of the big money and political interests funding it.
    (i.e. Exxon, BP Global, Al Gore Carbon Exchanges.)

    The people are not interested in climate change man made or otherwise, they are interested in profits.

    To avoid this, government in the past was usually employed to carry out science. In the golden age of scientific discovery, (50-60's) gigantic paces in scientific and technological progress were made, not because it was profitable to do so, but because one country in the world, the United States decided that the knowledge gained from such an exercise was the profit. This profit was to be applied to the human conditions of food, shelter and medical.

    Now, we have a fascist state, and there can be no separation of government/profit in a corporate fashion. Science isn't even possible to do any more on the scale of what was done in the 50's-60's.

    Now, the only science we do largely, is commercial and it is sick and twisted.
    (i.e. Like the focus on symptomatic causes of disease because that is more profitable than a cure, man made climate change with people seriously about setting up carbon exchanges to save the planet and more investment in technological trinkets and more iShit.).

    It is all going to fail, and it is going to fail harshly for the species who is apply it and is heading out the door and into the fossil record.

    Furthermore, I am a rather skeptical person. If you sit me down in a room, and wax poetic nonsense about how there are rules about Big O notation, execution time frames and information patterns which are bound to concrete mathematics, I will promptly shatter your world view.

    You certainly can and many people locked into a classroom, who write papers and do not produce anything of value for society certainly do.

    But this how I feel: No damn way are you going to put me in a chair, and make me listen to you, about how you feel computer science should be, or how it is and for the pleasure of it all, write a check to a bunch of bankers for all that nonsense for $150K plus.

    Has anyone noticed that they now describe Man Made Global warming, which nobody uses anymore to describe climate change based on man made contribution, or that is, to initiate a world wide carbon tax, is now generic Climate Change?

    Which, nobody will argue that climate change happens, which is I think why they are starting to try and deceive people by suggesting historic climate change is the same as mane made climate change, which there is not one shred of evidence to support, and in fact is false.

    Use of open source software in a military context violates the ethics of open source software systems.

    These ethics are inherent I would like to point out, and are not arguable. Particularly if you are from a country this weapon will be parked next to if your private central bank refuses to do business in federal reserve notes.

    Seriously though, what a huge yawn. Within a year or two I won't even need a windows machine to play games, the primary purpose of windows in the world right now.

    The only people who will need to still use windows on a daily basis will be legacy corporations like Microsoft.

    I already have my Linux servers, desktops and web/android apps. BONUS: I have all the source code for the security infrastructure that powers them.

    Now, all we need is a Linux game machine for our Linux desktops. It is going to happen within a year or two now that the graphics plumbing is worked out and ATI GPU's are now fully documented, including the latest generation GPUs. (i.e. 3.12 kernel/X 1.15 and possibly Wayland far far far into the future.)

    OpenWRT on AR716X hardware is the best in the tree right now.

    I have WDR TP Link 4300 using the latest GIT.

    Quite excellent, and using the latest 3.8 driver tree for Atheros Wireless and you get really good throughput.

    I imagine when Kernel 3.12 comes online, it will be pretty fantastic.
    The 4300 routers have been a mainstay at my house, pushing High Def video and Video gaming for about 6 computers and 4 tablets, 4 phones.

    The detachable antennas allow reallly good reception improvements as the key to good wireless isn't a large signal, it is good antennas.

    So right now I have 5 of the units and they are running MIPS processors in them, all over 600MHz so you can use them for doing storage area networking and decent iptables control at Gigbit speeds.

    Highly recommended.

    From what I have been able to research on the guy, he had lots of friends, was not isolating himself and was very active in what he believed to be correct human behaviour with regards to compassion and what that means in the pursuit of knowledge.

    He was also worth millions.

    He had no reason, whatsoever to take his own life, in fact from what I have seen had every reason to be quite happy.

    He had some problems, but to the extent that would warrant his personality profile to kill himself. Also the manner of such "suicide" doesn't fit the personality profile of someone who is clinically depressed.

    Microsoft announces crushing license restrictions for Windows 8, Surface etc.

    Steam then decides to support LINUX to free itself from restrictive software, while at the same time beginning the port of LINUX games even publishing the glowing reviews of how much better a game can be designed if the 3D drivers are opened.

    Then they announce the default hardware they will sell is Nvidia based with some of the worst drivers and restrictions in the history of LINUX.

    Two face bastards, I won't buy a single piece of software or hardware from them ever again and NEITHER will my family members.

    I want open hardware as DEFAULT, and if dumb asses want to buy Nvidia closed shit, then rip out the AMD card and put your crappy Nvidia video cards in there.

    I mean seriously, WTF?
