Wind Turbines are great, for private use. For example some Shopping Malls given the real estate they have, can offset heating and lighting costs using Wind Turbines by about 20% per year. Within 10-20 years they do pay for themselves.
However, for a public utility they are just nonsense. They are primarily funded by the Oil and Natural Gas companies in the public sector through government taxation.
Without this subsidization, they couldn't be built or operated.
If at anytime, the oil and gas companies don't feel like they are not getting the public benefit from these highly visible feel good projects, they will cut the funding and those green jobs of maintaining wind turbines will come screeching to a halt.
Large Wind Farms and factories are already being mothballed for example if Oil and Gas don't get what they want from your local congressman.
In short, it is a PR campaign because everyone knows it won't work (i.e. not a threat to gas or oil) and secondly it is a nice way too lobby..(i.e. you can put those big Oil names up there during half time commercials and say we are going to save the earth.):-)
For a public utility energy sources have to have way more reliability and much higher energy density.
Luckily, there are many different forms of energy production much more sane than gas or oil. The bad news is, you are never going to see them, because they do not require large infrastructure to deliver (Governments and big biz can't control them). Secondly since they cannot be controlled, they can't be centralized (i.e. form monopolies with them to price fix markets like they do now.)
Also, it is very important to have central power generation facilities so that terrorists can attack them. With such an attack comes huge opportunities for the government and the military to tell you we have to protect you, so this is how we are going to reduce you to a slave even more.... (but don't worry, you are going to be safe! Trust us!)
Speaking and thinking are not actionable items for criminal prosecution.
When they become so, you are living in a tyranny.
Whether your chains be of the worst kind made of a rusted iron which grinds against your bones like in North Korea, or they be made of Gold and tinsel like they are in Great Britain, tyranny has come to your country.
The West seems to be under a dark cloud since what I would call a very nice and very convient "incident" of 911, which the deaths of a few thousand people, are now paving the way to enslave the world under a new tyranny "for everyones safety" by a few elite politicians and bankers.
911 was a tragedy for sure.
But the complete destruction of the free world as the result of it, isn't a tragedy, it is a new dark age for man kind.
You sir, are an idiot. I say so, and so does 10,000 years of human history.

It is not over valued, it is valued by the laborer 2000 years ago in Egypt, to the Banker today depseratly trying to supress its value so that they can continue to print any wealth they want for themslves to buy up countries they bankrupt like Greece, for pennies.
Gold cannot be printed, and it is the enemy of the paper/electronic monied elite.
They despise Gold because they cannot print it and use it to destroy their mortal enemy: The Middle Class.
Gold has to be stored, it has to be in possession. That means men can rise up against their government and take it back.
I would like to point out for the following reasons:
1) Once there is no cash, it will all be tracked. You won't be able to buy or sell without a mark or a digital signature. That means YOU. The elite will be able to do whatever they please.
2) Once they achieve this, any political dissent can simply defunded by turning off a switch in a computer.
That is why governments are desperate to have a cashless society. They can track anything you give to someone like for example, Alex Jones or anyone else that is in the business of tracking how these idiots are destroying civilization on a day to day basis.
Track and shut them down with a simple switch.
That is too much power for any one organization to have, I don't care what the arguments are for it.

5) The amount of robbery that will occur will explode. Primarily due to the fact the only people who can track what money is missing will be a few people in closed room looking at a display. Nobody else will know.
6) Economic slavery will become everyday life as a few elite punch in some numbers in the computers and the rest of us will have to work furiously to make those numbers up.

Really. You know, it is statements like these that make intelligent people seriously dislike science as a whole.
Does anyone here honestly believe if everyone stopped eating meat the issue of earths natural climate change would stop?
Or even how about it would change the natural cycle of change in our favor?
Put this in context of a planetary eco system, which is a structure so vast no way are we going to understand it anytime soon. A planetary eco system inside another gigantic structure which is our solar system guarantees we won't understand anything anything about these systems anytime soon.
And these people want to start tinkering with them _on purpose_.
Really? Seriously?
Well, you got my vote for doomsday if these idiots ever do get enough political power and enough idiots to follow them to start doing experiments on our own climate system.
I would be all for this, as long as space travel was as simple as getting in a car.
Because, given the F*up'ed world we live in, thanks in part to western science, I want to be able to leave when the planet becomes uninhabitable because someone used metric instead of english units to pour hydrogen sulfide into the atmosphere. (No seriously, that is one of the things they want to do...._HYDROGEN SULFIDE_).
But it doesn't work over large populations because of corruption.
As I have mentioned before, governments are a bad idea of large populations of people, and it usually ends up disasterous.
Too much centralization isn't good as it turns out, just like in computer networks and server systems.
Small communities combined through a confederation works best.
It also limits war, and you would have things like we are seeing now in the United States, which is a complete breakdown of the rules of law, (Defined by the Bill of Rights and Constitution) and being transformed into a land ruled by the laws of men. (Obama, Bush the Politco and their Wall Street henchmen.)
The following is my opinion...you don't have to believe me:;-)
Mathematics in the West is specifically taught to insure, most people are locked out of ever discovering its true meaning. This is done on purpose, and it is to create a class of people who become only familiar with Mathematics...but not knowledgeable about the topic. This is to insure the majority of people cannot use Mathematics for anything beyond what it is taught for. (i.e. Mathematics is taught for a job, for obedient workers.)
A good example is many of the engineering courses, which create idealized problems, with very little examples that clearly explain the connections between what I would call the secrets of Mathematics beyond a simple algorithm. You can see this in most textbooks, idealized problems, with a problem that is demonstrated step by step, but amazingly, none of those examples can be used to solve any of the problems in the problem sets.
I say secrets, because for example, Trigonometry is taught doing memorization, insuring the students never make the connections between anything but a triangle and a simple table of values for a given triangle on a unit circle. This is key. That way most people will be put off by Trigonometry with no connection of meaning, only memorization.
Also, only answers are given in the texts, if any problems are worked out they are done very lightly carefully planned, so that the individual cannot discern beyond the problem, and focuses strictly on the answer.
Have you ever noticed, after studying an entire chapter in a typical mathematics text, you can't do any of the problems, or very few of them? That is because you are not being taught mathematics, you are being taught obedience. You go to the instructor to insure you think "properly" about the problems in the text and that you do not ask any dangerous questions.
Another example is problems are then given with no worked out problems, and no answers. This is critical. It insures that if you somehow work out the problem, you do not understand the answer, or more importantly, you once again, have to check with the instructor to insure you are "thinking properly", and will often make you do the problem over in the "correct: manner. (State approved.)
This is by design, and it is to insure Mathematics continues to be a topic that "only smart people get". (Which there is no such thing. I can assure you, if you do a lot of work, outside institutionalized Universities and State organizations, and find your own way you will trounce these people. Most of them are nothing but idiot savants in my experience, with high skills in memorization and never straying far from text book material.) This is done this way and taught this way because if Mathematics and its meaning was clear, it could be used to ends many of the people that currently run our societies, do not want.
Things such as critical thinking, and independent thought are dangerous to these people. Remember, companies don't want individuals that are going to destroy their markets, by thinking differently. They want workers who think the same, so that the products which are turned out create predictable markets they can easily monopolize. Educational institutions are created with the same goals to support these corporations in most western countries.
You see this today right, with such terms as "disruptive technologies", for example. The most ridiculous term I have ever heard. The term is used for the small number of people who slip through the fingers of these institutions, and disrupt monopolized markets. There is no such thing as disruptive anything, there is only obedient citizens in the corporate fascist state, and "trouble makers or disruptive" people.
If you examine our current educational systems, they are specifically designed to insure everyone thinks the same way, and with no independent thought. It is very similar to brainwashing. It is so ingrained, that many of these people after spending an entire
First of all, the reason why gas is at the price it is, is because of Oil companies monopoly control of the market. It has nothing to do about peak oil bull crapola or political issues, beyond the ones of artificially creating shortages.
The energy sector is reknown for creating and building into markets artificial scarcity to jack up prices. It happens all the time. For example, when Enron was around they had people shutting off energy supplies to California to jack up prices. Who cares if little old ladies couldn't afford air conditioning, they got killed outright.
Anyone care? Nope.
Nobody got prosecuted either.
There really is no reason for high gas prices. The earths crust has so much hyrdrocarbons as the Russian's found out, that there is no way we will ever exhaust the supply of hydrocarbons in the form of Oil or Gas.
There is _literally_ oceans of the stuff throughout the entire solar system, so it is abundant and naturally produced. (No Plants or Dino's required.)
This all has to do with deals made by a few people in the 1950's with the Arab's for Oil. Henry went over and had a discussion with them, and said, "We will not develop the US Oil reserves and we will buy all of our Oil from you. In return, you have to invest some of that money in Federal Reserve notes."
Get it now?
Federal Reserve Notes are valued in Oil. That is how the world works. That is why the US Dollar seems to be almost "Undead" like, because no way in the world, could we wage wars like we are doing in all these different countries and pay for them with a fiat currency.
Secondly the United States has so much Oil, it is almost unimaginable. These evil people have plotted for 50 years to work with environmental groups, government to insure laws are passed so no drilling can happen.
Now ask yourself, why would you not drill on one of the largest Oil reserves known on the planet in your own back yard, yet get the same resource from politically unstable areas? Put it into tankers which are incredibly harmful to the environment if they run aground in the ocean off coastlines, and ship it here?
All when they could be transported much more cost effectively with refineries and local trucking on American soil without gigantic Oil spills every decade off the coastlines from Oil rig platforms or tankers running aground?
Reason: Maximize the value of the Federal Reserve note, and number 2 keep the energy sources away from the people who use them, in a political sense. (i.e. People complain about the price of Oil, the powers that be are effective insulated because they can say we can't do anything about it, its the middle east you know...blah blah blah.)
What you have is a gigantic transfer of wealth using energy from the masses to the political class with absolutely no accountability.
It is the _perfect_ political system. You get to get screwed, and the politicans and oil companies can set any price they like, and claim it isn't there fault.
No doubt, a war in the middle east just might force them to open drilling in the US. Not for the reasons you are thinking of though. (i.e. political pressure.)
No, you see, by the time they start drilling in the USA, they are going to get probably $8 dollars a gallon for it at the pump.
That would be the ONLY reason why they would open up Oil drilling in the USA.
"The plant companies are well aware of the risks and it is in their best interest to mitigate them. Having worked with a number of employees from plant companies, all that I have met take their responsibility for feeding the world very seriously and want to do what they can to increase yields, decrease pesticide/herbicide use and protect the food supply."
No, it is not in there best interests to mitigate them. It is in their best interests to destroy all know forms of native plant species so that you can only purchase food from them. That is their interest.
Why? Because monopolies maximize profits.
Don't treat people here like children. You can search the web and PLAINLY SEE THIS IS NOT WHAT THESE COMPANIES LIKE MONSANTO ARE DOING.
A judgement day is coming to this world on how we use science to satisfy a few peoples greed and criminality.
I hope to God at the top of the list for that Judgement is Monsanto Employees if there is any justice in this Universe with Bankers and Politicians left.
1) Growing Food crops that are 100% genetically identical is so stupid, it borders on idiocy.
2) Genetic conatmination of the environment. People seem to have a big problem if they see CO2 anywhere, but if you want to wipe out native species of grains and destroy the gene pool, hey, thats A O.K.
3) Greed, surprise! The small handful of people who run everything and pick who you get to vote for, rip off huge pension plans from everyday people and then claim they aren't cost effective and are socialist anyway also want to control the food, _ALL_ food you eat. Hell, they don't just want to control it, they want to turn those little genes on and off depending on how much nutrition you can pay for. No no...that is not enough, the good food you see, they get to eat as they build gigantic native grain, non GMO seed vaults for themselves and their families world wide, quietly and away from public attention.
You see, GMO's isn't just about money. They want to be able to turn off your food supply and make it illegal for you to grow any of your own food without a intellectual property agreement.
Besides, growing your own food is communist, socialist...or any other kind of ism if they can't control it themselves directly.
You know I track this stuff as my father died of cancer, so I am rather keenly aware when new cancer treatments pop up.
However, over the past 2 years I have noticed a trend that just about every major medication from cholsterol pills, to sexual disfunction to vaccines, have 3-5 times the elevated risk factors for people to die of cancer.
If I didn't know any better the industry is astroturfing for patients to increase profits.
I can't think of a single human being that should even be life extended let alone immortalized, scientifically or culturally.
Human beings are disgusting, greedy, vengeful and so far as back as recorded history, between civilizations they have destroyed, completely unaware of _all_ of their history.
What is needed is the reinstatement of Tariff's on goods, so Americans can make the products.
it is not required or nessacary for people to live like slaves for companies to make a profit.
We can have easily what we had in the 1950's, where Americans can hold one job per family, and make a living.
The only sacrifice will be that companies won't have CEO's making hundreds of billions. Just maybe a couple hundred million at most.
The rest I am afraid has to go to the workers.
This scales much better by the way as well. If only one person _has_ to work, to make ends meet, the unemployment situation will virtually fix itself over night.
Oh and one more thing. Globalism has to die. If we give that up as well as an economic policy then that is just a good thing all around. I don't want one country making one thing, and another making another thing. A single disaster in one country kills the economic market place for products that are manufactured in such a myopic scope.
Latest example I can point to this nonsense is the Hard Drive disaster and the floods in Thailand.
Another problem with globalism, which is why it must die: It is a completely failed economic policy benefitting too few. I would point out examples, but most of my audience reading this already knows them all. If you don't believe me, watch the chaos insue as these globalist bearucrats meet in Chicago this spring,
Lots of people know the story.
Everything is too centralized economically. I favor using tariffs to encourage countries to make things themselves and to be self sufficient.
This would mean the end to trans national corporations as well.
The USAry is going to have to eventually make a decision:
1) Race to the bottom where you have super cheap crap being made, by people that make $10 an hour.
If you want to live and compete like FOXCONN employees, then thats great. We can put dorms and nets outside the buildings so people don't jump to their deaths in despair and misery working in such conditions.
Isn't that iGreat?!
2) Or Add to the equation, not just Free Markets, but Fair Trade. That means when you manufacture something, a tariff equalizes it so that Americans can go back to what they had with trade tariff's in the 1950's.
Personally, I feel the real issue is globalism. It is a broken idea, and as we are watching, Globalism makes it efficient to redistribute the profits by centralizing them in a few companies, and therefore a few hands.
Instead of many small manufacturing firms of lawn mowers for example, you have one or two, and the people on these boards and share holders get to take in all of the profit. The idea is of course, that this creates billion and trillionaires.
With a large diverse market, minus globalism you just get 1 or two billionaires, but a whole ton more millionaires.
Also, I would like to point out, this globalism is the main reason why countries are going broke. The entities that have been created by Globalism largely don't pay any taxes.
In short, just my opinion, everything has just got too big, and too unwielding. I am hopeful that people will come to their senses and dismantal globalism so we can return to lots of small voices in the farming industry for example. Not just 2 or 3 large industrial farming corporations.
Which, if you can't see the danger of _just_ one or two companies doing all the farming, well, I am wasting my time anyway.
But really. Globalism is just too big. It needs to be dismantled into manageable parts so that Democracy can digest the issues.
Globalism generates issues way to big for the differing cultures and democracies to handle.
Unless of course, you plan on creating a world government. For that too happen we need a gigantic war to destroy most of the West and everyone who thinks like I do. (Well, a War, or maybe a nice virus or maybe just put something in the food and water...which since only a few companies are marking the majority of the food, would probably be fairly easy to do. If not now, it certainly gets easier by the day.)
I will leave that to you if you think that is happening.
We have many of our elections being counted in secret.
We have foreign companies now counting our votes.
We have voting machines, with no way to track votes counting our votes.
What is the result?
A bunch of people that pass Patriot ACT, SOPA and NDAA, TSA. (Sorry the list is too long now...)
Suprise!
Only complete idiots would be thinking about how to use a political system that gave them the above to somehow expect the very same system will stop stop these evil people, and I do mean _evil_ people.
You people are morons, and future generations are going to look back at how Mud Huts everyone is living in got into vogue, and curse you all.
GMO is not about making plants that produce more, or are resistant to cold or heat or drought.
It is the control of the food supply, that is what it is about.
Ask any Biologist, and they will tell you, genetically creating strains of identical plant lines to maximize a trait is a truly dangerous thing to do. Whenever you take and engineer biological entities such as plants, that are gentically identical and create entire artificial eco systems that have low diversity, or in the case of GMO, _NO_ diversity, all sorts of catastrophic destruction can happen to the population.
Whether it be a GERM, a BUG or BAD WEATHER, having a food supply that is genetically diverse and NOT engineered is the safest and will produce the most food, consistently over a wide variety of environmental conditions.
GMO has got to be the worst possible idea of all time. It won't produce food for anyone except the rich, and it will not produce food that has the ecological diversity requirements to provide a safe consistent yield.
It isn't by accident you know, they will not put GMO labels on food. They know it is not safe, and they do not want you to know about it.
GMO also is causing massive extinction rates in our grain crops from gene contamination. If this isn't stopped, there won't be any grain species left that are safe to eat.

So bad, let me count the ways...

Nothing to see here...
These are not the slave workers you are looking for.
Apple executives can go about their business.
Move along to the next post ..
I hope to god you are kidding.
I can't think of a single human being that should even be life extended let alone immortalized, scientifically or culturally.
Human beings are disgusting, greedy, vengeful and so far as back as recorded history, between civilizations they have destroyed, completely unaware of _all_ of their history.

It isn't practical to Boycott Apple.
I say good riddens.

I like this quote: "It's good to know that quantum computers will be secure when they exist."
Gotta love slashdot, ya know.
First of all, if we ever get a real working quantum computer...and that is a gigantic _IF_ in caps, you can rest assured that someone will break it.
I would be very surprised if it couldn't be cracked.

Hello, while we are at it lets get rid of all the water on the earth.
It is killing US!!!
I am sure Al Gore and his Carbon Credit buy/sell market scammers can set up the same thing for water and methane.
Down with Water and Methane!!!
If you elect me for president, I will eliminate methane and water and SAVE THE EARTH.

This guy is using only 10 years of a planet that is aged in the billions of years and he calls it a undeniable trend?
He must have spent way too many years writing BLOG's and not enough time doing his Mathematics homework.
10 years is not a trend. It isn't even a moment in geologic time.
Its a pico moment. ;-)

You cannot compete with slave labor.

I don't understand.
