So you think the Pentagon may have considered what action they'd be required to take if the found out Ireland has "black gold", and then got their wires crossed?
Upon intercepting chatter about "The Black Stuff" they initiated a search for "Waterholes of Mass Drinking" but got detained at a paramilitary checkpoint before sending an aerial strike force the the countries hinterlands where the suspected WMDs were located.
On May 23rd 2011, the US enacted just such a strategy when Obama invaded Moneygall, Ireland, liberating several pints of "The Black Stuff" from the hands of the oppressive "Barkeeper".
You'd be a fool to think that the Pentagon draws up contingencies just for the sake of it, w/o intentions of really doing it.
"In 3 hours we will be making a press release regarding our service achievements in the month of June. Watch this space!"
3 hours later
"As promised, we would like to announce to everyone that we surpassed 1 billion viewed hours for the month of June"
Skipping the first step would allow people who follow your facebook profile closer than others (friends) a jump on the general public of a number of hours. If you used that to your advantage, you could make a bit of money. Whenever you issue a press statement, you warn them in advance so they have enough time to all get the information at the same time.
Please be gentle, I'm not as big a nerd as I like to think, and more of a scientist than a computer person. The thing is, though, I have a really nice PC for gaming that I built (with help) from my older machine. I replaced almost everything but I kept the Hard Drives (added an SSD to the existing 1.5TB RAID0). It has 32GB RAM (it was on sale) and a core i5 and an nVidia 660 GTX on an ASUS Mobo.
I have on it Vista 64-bit home premium (so I can't use all 32GB RAM) and I want to upgrade. Everyone says that Vista was BAAAAAD, and I'd agree if I was a power user, prolly, there are a number of annoying things like being asked all the time if I really want to change some setting or other.
So the question is this, should I upgrade to Win 8 Pro (and get start8 or whatever it is that give back the regular start menu) or Win 7 ultimate? Given that the promotion is for Win 8 only, I'd like to be able to take advantage of the reduced cost.
To note: I really only use the machine to play games bought on Steam, MUD, and use the net. Is win 8 that bad that even someone who's generally smart, but only uses the computer for a few things, should avoid it?
Haha, you had me up until when you said the Irish would get a hold of a nuke from the British. Don't you know that the British are the people we're most likely to want to nuke?
Nice try!
Disclaimer: I have no intention of ever nuking Britain, or Iceland for that matter.
There is a positive side of course. Sometimes you're there cuddling and trying to find a suitable way of getting smoothly to the sexytimes. Having an add for contraceptives would be a great queue.
Depends on your definition of record. What's the difference between video recording a road to keep track of all the cars that pass through, or a person counting the cars that pass by and taking note of the registration plates.
A counter in the TV that takes note of how many times words are said is the same thing as making an audio recording of a conversation. If they did speech to text and produced an entire transcript of conversations, isn't that the same as an audio recording?
I really hope this never ever takes off, if it does I'll make sure that it can be easily disabled before I'd buy any TV with it (assuming EVERY TV has it, otherwise I just buy one that doesn't)
There were lots of good streams of the Olympic Games, and not very good TV coverage. Sure there were some geographical blocks to things like BBC coverage, but that's a small technicality that would be easily overcome if the need/want was great enough (once TV dies). Sure Netflix might not be able to manage ALL the sports, but each provider might manage their own part.
You could combine that with one of the posts above:
If you use Windows, you can install Truecrypt, and change the bootloader so it shows "Operating System Not Found".
Build in a little smoke canister into the case, triggered on opening (unless you press a non-descript button on the side) and when they open it it goes *poof* then displays "Operating System Not Found" when they try to boot it. Now they think that they fried the HDD when they opened the case.
I got Deus Ex for the PS3 when it came out and played it through, enjoyed it a lot. But now the missus take a lot of the TV time so I don't have that much access to it. So I got it for 4€ in the autumn sale on the PC and (no surprise) the UI is different on the PC (the 10 shortcuts for keyboard). Can anyone tell me if when I use a controller (and Big Screen) so that when I do have some TV time I can play it with controller, does the game/steam change the UI to the PS3/XBOX layout when you switch to controller?
This reminds me of a story where a husband was suing his (then) ex wife for giving him an ugly baby, despite him paying for extensive plastic surgery to make her more beautiful.
If my 7 year old daughter would ask me what 'blow-job' means Ill tell her. [snip]. Suck. It. Up.
Did nobody else see this?

You have been Warned.
I sometimes do 3, even 4 QR codes in a day, what does that make me?
I suspect getting things there, like space ships and people, would prove tedious. Oh and it's a national wildlife refuge.
So, you think they should launch this in Mexico first?

It's your classic tale of ... Hags to Ritches
Wet T-Shirt Competition
I was told by a friend that if you get Win 8 Pro you can get the media thing for free.

Possibly because that's not a crime.
If I told you how I came about it, you might think I stole it!
The problem is that the people calling the shots (the lawyers) have the most to lose if piracy went away.

What will 'K' be? Can they use a trademarked name, like Kitkat? Koolaid?

Can I have a Chocolate palace now Mr Wonka?
Ask a Baker to count out a dozen.

Dammit, I bought this exact pack in the summer sale!
