Admittedly, I'm an avid KDE user, but I have to point out that multiple desktops were definitely available in WinXP, as well as Windows 2000 if memory serves me right. I _think_ it was a well hidden executable in Win2k that allowed it to happen, like vdm.exe or something. When you ran it ,you suddenly got a little desktop selector in your taskbar... How cute... :-p

"Warchalking means exposing unsecure Networks. "

Bollocks it does! I'm fed up hearing this negative view of warchalking coming from people who don't have a clue. I have a warchalk symbol outside my house to denote that I give free net access, not that I have 'an insecure network.' Warchalking is about telling others what is available, and it doesn't imply that the network is insecure or illegal in any way.

No wonder warchalking is getting so much bad press these days. Next I'll be having the Police at my door, arresting me for being a hacker on my own network and telling others about the free net access I've found.

    Bloody idiots.

Explain your reasoning a bit more clearly. Which fan shatters? The cooling fan, or the 'turbo' fan? And if it's the turbo fan that supposedly shatters, I find that highly unlikely - since, as you say, they can't shove air fast enough and will subsequently just starve the engine of oxygen and degrade performance rather than breaking up. Care to elaborate please?

When you send out data through a NAT machine, although the return IP address is changed, the MAC address within the packet stays the same. This is so the NATting machine looks at the return packet, notices that although it has it's own IP, it has a different MAC address from it's own, and thus must be forwarded somewhere. This is a bit of an oversimplification, but hopefully you can see how it works.

If an ISP were to start checking MAC address of inbound traffic, then it could fairly easily filter out traffic for 'unregistered' computers. Alternatively, it could have a look at the traffic, realise that although a lot of packets have your IP in them yet they have different destination MAC addresses. On this assumption, they could claim that you are performing address translation for other computers.

    Did I miss a bit?? I hope not :-p
