In short, "Commander Keen creator says Direct3D is now better than OpenGL" is an argument from authority. Arguments from authority are fallacious since both the reasoning and the premises of the argument may be wrong, and that the argument was made by a famous person doesn't change that.

I think you'll find it's not actually an argument at all. It's the title of an article linking to the argument, which you haven't read.

You're the one who seems to be filled with propaganda, unlike you I have no illusions of magical Utopian societies that we somehow always fail to build. We're all a bunch of flawed pathetic bastards who often forget that in the end we're just a bunch of monkeys with slightly better brains.

No; Utopias are sunk by people who insist this.

    Basically,
    a. The bug is ancient
    b. The bug affects loads of things, some of which are important
    c. The bug has been fixed for some time by the guy named max, who has implimented a full DIB engine which hugely increases performance in certain situations and can be turned on and off, but it won't be committed by the wine approval people for cryptic reasons (this was the case about a year ago when I looked into it, might have changed now, but a scan of the comments suggests not)
