Doing so is dumb. Right now, Colorado is worth 9 "points" to either Bush or Kerry, so it is worthwhile for them to pay attention to Colorado.
But if it goes to percentage, it will almost always be 5-4. Which means if you win Colorado, you get 1 more vote than if you lost it. So its worth becomes 1 instead of nine.
[I]f it was not for the electoral college this country would NEVER have a republican president.
Yup. Because we know for a fact that either Ronald Regan was a Democrat or 60% of the popular vote wouldn't matter.....
From Wikipedia:
In 1984, [Ronald Regan] was re-elected in a landslide over Carter's Vice President Walter Mondale, winning in 49 of 50 states and receiving nearly 60 percent of the popular vote.
Also, how do you explain Jeb Bush winning by a 13% margin in 2002?
The main problem with not voting as a political statement is that there is absolutely nothing to distinguish between someone who doesn't vote because he hates the candidates and someone who doesn't vote because he hates moving.
You should vote, even if all you do is vote for some local school board official. Or write in Donald Duck. Anything to get a ballot in. If 15% of the presidential vote went to people outside the two parties, they'd sit up and take notice.
Actually I'm at a loss to explain why CDRW did not become the new floppy, but flash drives have.
Mainly because you have to burn after using a CDRW. For example; copy a single file to a floppy or USB drive, and when the copy operation is done, you can pull the disk out (or unmount, etc).
However, with a CDRW you have to eject & burn, because the file didn't really get copied to the disk but to a temporary location, so you have to wait for the burn. This is annoying for a single small file.

Actually, considering how many people still use and defend Apple's failures (G4 Cube, Newton), one could argue that Apple doesn't usually design a crappy product, but sometimes overestimates the demand for it at the price point they use.

There is a difference between Times Roman and Times New Roman.
The New one is from 1984. (No, not the book!)
At least, that's what I've heard. Supposedly the 4 is different.
I know. Sheesh. People these days.
Everyone knows Gates is much worse.

What idiocy. Anyone knows this is slashdot - we should forge things with OpenOffice.org! Damn Microsoft users.

Here is a link to the 2000 election broken down by county. San Diego is the only heavily populated county that I can find that went for Bush.

Probably because lots of people would say that the outcome is just a gamble, anyway.
If I pull the lever and get BUSH BUSH BUSH do I win the jackpot?
I have hereby produced the highest quality text:

Others, however, argue that the following is better:
A.
That's a fallacy.
If your vote mattered nothing, then everyone's vote would matter nothing, and there would be no election.
And if 1000 people think the way you do, and don't vote, and the vote is closer than 1000 votes, then you've thrown away something very powerful.
Say your vote has a 0.0001% affect. If it takes less than 0.0001% of your life to vote, then you should.
After all, you get that cool sticker!
It ain't a federal law, as North Dakota doesn't even require you to register.
Some states also allow same-day registering. That's the way to go.

Otherwise they just write you off as apathetical.
Well, /. slants right, but it actually is more left, so we will rename it to:

A nine drive SATA NAS with a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4, 6 fans, draws 3 amps at start up, 2 when running. (360 to 240 watts)
Most of that is the SATA drives.

These don't compute.
Poul Anderson's High Crusade has a good take on the whole question; quite a good read.
Have you done this? How do you de-authenticate the extra machines? Do you have Apple reset your account for you? Inquiring minds want to know.....
Well, two things. One, it is smaller and can be pink, which matters to about 50% of the population.
2. It is $50 cheaper, some people don't need 20 GB.
Also, the fact that they can't keep the darn things on the shelf indicates that somebody wants them.
Of course, the Slashdot Set would probably be happy with a 400GB iPod the size of a large brick.....
This house should withstand 600 MPH winds, I'd think.....
