    One with WIFI, querty keyboard , bluetooth, good camera (3MPix) and SD card. Maybe with GPS.
    It's lighter than laptop. And it does stuff you need.

    Nokia E90 (expensive, yes but worth it) o Sony-Ericcson P1i, or Nokia E61i.
    Something like that. Symbian or windows - it's up to you.

    And hand-crack and/or solar charger for it :).

    In some countries electricity is still... well not very common.

    There are "Sci" in them. "Fi" does not dominate. Visual effects are where really needed.
    Because of low budget? Maybe. I do not complain.

    Big budget are (in most cases) just fiction flicks with visual effects. But SCIENCE-fiction?

    It is another step.
    Ugly and non-ethical, yes, but most details on animal experiments are like this one.
    Always wanted brain implant? - well, some research must be done.
    Like it? No? Me either, but at the end people will forget all ugly parts and will use direct brian computer interface.

    Well, we (OK, Rejewski, Rozycki and Zygalski :) ) borke Enigma before WWII. During the war they (and Allies) got to crack Enigmas with more wheels. But it was already known to them that it is possible.
