I respectfully disagree, I started doind c# last june and the number of times i had my apps silently crashing for no apparent reason and then debugging just to find there was an exception thrown at some place where I didn't expect it, yeah I could check the docs and all that but I prefer the compiler to tell me: 'hey, you must be prepared to catch exeption Foo here', if you use IDE's like IntelliJ (and exclipse? never really used it) you'll get a lot of help from the editor to deal with the drudgery of filling in stuff like this automagically, so it no a problem really. Then whgen it comes to which language to pick, I'd say any would do, they both very nice langauges, both with their quirks and joys. Wont take long to migrate from one to a nother if need be.
>... and it can't be faster than binaries that went through and optimizing compiler. actually it can, you need to compile your code for a lowest common platform. for example the Pentium II in order to make sure the code will run on all platforms, JIT sees what CPU the system got and can generate code on the fly accordingly. Also, if the system is a multi CPU system, the JIT can generate code to take this into advantage.
you can't seriously argue that activex ever was a good idea for a browser on the internet, even ms acknowledge that, hence their move towards asp.net 2.0, zery-deployment stuff etc.
yeah, but then you got to fight their over engineered API instead. Oh well, it's ok I suppose when you get used to it, bu tI rmember my struggles with all the TDes variants, ugh
actually, matrix reused some of the sets from Dark City, see here (scroll down to Cinematics). so there's a reason parts of the film liiks the same, just check out that staircase were Neo sees the deja vu!
a lot, and slamming them down migt actually not be recommended, better to try to split them up so the samll pieces evaporate on the way down in the atmosphere. Mind you mars do have a fair amount of water already. question is how much we need to add or if we need to add any at all.
an atmosphere would stop most of the radiation, the worst thing with no magnetic field is that we'd not be able to keep that atmosphere without somehow refilling (don't ask me how)it every now and again since the solar wind will slowly but surely rip away the atmosphere.
the 20 times faster figure is a missprint if the number are anything to go by (according to BBC: shuttle: 200mph, airliner: 20 mph????), twice the landing speed of a commercial airliner seems to be right
unfortunatelly too complicated - will take too long time. However, according to nasa they will build the new capsules by reusing shuttle tech, hence keep all the contractors in and try not to lose any of the current know-how as happened with apollo
acutall, why not fly all the shuttles up to IIS and use them as building blocks for the space station? it's the return flight that's dangerous, take off seems to be ok. Yeah, we'll need to figure out how to power them and how to dock them together, but at least they get to become some use for space exploration.
symbian 9 will include support for standard c++ exceptions, however this is for supporting port from other platforms, the CleanupStack will still be the prefered way for pure symbian apps.
Also, the moon balances the earth rotation around it's axle, making sure we got steady weather patterns, which would be fairly important for development if higher land-based life at least

um, no, it's not that bad, you seen too much movies!v iew.html

having said that, question is what would happen to birds and other animals that navigate by the magnetic field. anyone know?

what MS probably will do is to go after Google's biggest source of income, their ads...
very true, might get nasty though if you decide to hold on to that handle in the shadow on the space station
not dollars, euros, this is an ESA project

>Is this for real?
nope, they're just crackpots, and the editors should have a good caning for letting this one through, IMHO.

easy, smack a comet or two into it, voila! lots of water!

yeah, but you'd save a lot through less air resistence on the higher altitude
I think he's made it pretty clear what he thinks of the moon hoaxers!

actually, Jesus is considered a great prophet in muslim belief, not an infidel. Not that I'm a religious person.
yeah, got that, but what was their budget?

indeed, the biggest danger would be the bends and lung expansion.
Nasa got some info about it here
axle, axis, sounds all the same to us non-english-speaking foreigners you know! ;-)
Anyway, yes, axis might have been a slightly more fitting word!
Also, the moon balances the earth rotation around it's axle, making sure we got steady weather patterns, which would be fairly important for development if higher land-based life at least
maybe it's the staturn-like gas giant that did shadow the desert planet were Pitch Black unfolded?
