NOt sure how pressurised the average space suit was would be interesting to know though, but I know that the astronauts have to breathe pure oxygen for ~4 hours before going for a space walk in order to avoid the bends so there's definetly something in what your're saying...
Makes one smile a bit when you see actors in movies get ready for an emergency space walk in 5 mins;-)
Well, I was under the impression that one can't produce photographic images of the same quality with vector based programs as with bitmapped programs, while vector based would be better on more 'drawn' images because of the advantage of being able to scale them very easily. An example would be Photoshop vs. Illustrator. Just wondering how the actual drawing of the bitmapped is done since I thought that since the engine is vectorbased it must store the bitmap as a vector based image - which usually screws up the image.
DOn't get me wrong, not trying to badmouth DisplayPDF - obviously there is a way of displaying images without loss of quality. Just a bit curious how. Never been a mac person, but I must admit OSX is a rather tempting OS, who know what my next system will be;-)
One thing I always wondered:
Isn't OSX's dispay engine vector based? Very cool but isn't that a fairly big disadvantage when it comes to display photographic images like jpg's etc? Do they have a way around it or am I wrong in general?
same here, don't think it's a hoax. More some lonely poor soul who is desperatly trying to get some credibility and resorts to childish lawsuit threats and name calling ('your company will be out of business in 3 years time,' etc, etc).
Bit sad actually....
Ah, cool, looks like I learned something new today!
Pity thing about the earth, but then again doubt I or humanity wil be around long enough that we really have to worry!;-)
Hmmm, Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that since the universe is expanding, all galaxies are moving awway from each other. how could we then collide with another galaxy???
*one* days use??!!!
God, I do remember my Palm, (bless it's soul - I stepped on it...), stayed up for weeks without recharging. Then again, there's a bit more processing power in this baby... I gonna get one when it comes out in the 64MB version!;-)
Hmm, sorry, not an MS fan myself but the do support other than x86, from msdn:
Supported processors include ARM720T, ARM920T, ARM1020T, StrongARM, XScale, MIPS II/32 w/FP, MIPS II/32 w/o FP, MIPS16, MIPS IV/64 w/FP, MIPS IV/64 w/o FP, SH-3, SH3-DSP, SH-4, 486, 586, Geode, Pentium I/II/III/IV.
(Have a look)
Also, source code available for CE at least right here
Of course you have to agree to the licence agreement first...
You cant say XP isn't proven, and then later say XP is just NT all over again. XP has _10 years_ of OS development behind it. Not the same as 30 years of UNIX, but its still a bit of a stretch to call the guts of XP "unproven" in the same breath as saying "its really just W2k with some extra gui bits".
From what I know is XP mostly based on the win2K codebase and win2K was IIRC a complete rewrite and *not* based on NT whatsoever.
Then again, Linux hasn't 40 years of code behind it. It's not based on the old UNIX codebase, it does have 10 years of development behind it though.

So what, just because *all* of their app doesn't suck (they actually have some very good ones) doesn'y make them less predatory. there's lots of MS stuff that I can enjoy to use (well, 3 things, win2K, VC++ and ie), but that doesn't make me less worried about their behaviour in the market place
"Yes, this is different from the Microsoft/IIS/Outlook exploits. But you have to KNOW the difference before you can TELL the difference. And the difference is THIS IS A BUG, MICROSOFT PROBLEMS ARE USUALLY FLAWS.
"
How do you mean? From what I've seen there's no really design flaw in IIS that causes it to have all these exploits, more like sloppy coding, or rather coding withouh security in mind.
But you think different?
you think that's bad?;-) ever heard about the Wellcome trust? Sponsors of the Human Genome Proj.
Worked there last year at wellcome, not HGP)
check them out at http://www.wellcome.ac.uk
noew *that's* a typo! *grin*
Mind you, got an explanation back then why it was spellt like it was - can't remmeber though
since OSX, not much actually, except price, I would go for one of the towers though...
FIrst a new PC, then start to save for a mac!
Another one: if you're for example buying a jumper, you buy a 'lagom' large one...

um, not sure what it means but it sounds a bit nasty, really....

Not that I'm an expert on compression whatsoever, but what the hell does the 'quantum theory' bit has to do with compression????? hohum

well, if you wanted security.. why didn't you go for OpenBSD then?? Got very good track record
Maybe some old style spelling of the word. We probably never know! ;-)
You *do* get the source with MFC...
the CWindow class is in the ATLWIN.H (yes all method implementations are in the header)
"You sure seem to spew a lot of it too. (See, I can make ad hominem attacks too!)" ;-)
you know, what goes in must come out....
Hmm, I can't really see any difficulty in that decision at all for some reason ;-)
sounds like Yoda sort of....
