this is what I understood:
1. gambling in US is legal in casino. They have systems that guarantee that you will loose money.
2. gambling online was made illegal so that casinos will not loose money (from gambling, drinks, hotels etc). They also have systems that guarantee that you will loose money.
3. nobody cares what the citizen wants if some corporation wants something else.

from my own experience this is how you can use Joomla:
-don't used it
-live happily or
-install it for unsuspecting clients
-profit over and over again (hey thanks for the little modification you did but I noticed something else...)
In case you didn't understood, this is a piece of crap; the creators should be jailed!
-you enable "pretty urls", they work for menu and articles but they don't for breadcrumbs; now you have 2 urls going to the same content. So you decide to:
-install 3rd party extension to handle "pretty urls". It redirects all urls to the pretty one but you still have 2 different urls!
-generic error messages - error message example: "could not move file". Yay! no mention of what file, directory or actual reason why the operation failed(most of the time file rights). They could just say "we f***ed you!"
-more urls for the same content: with &flypage=, without... etc.
-much more I can't just remember right now..
aaand the forums are filled with garbage; rarely you will find people who specify what version of Joomla they are talking about.
loooooooooooool. Dude that vision it's equivalent to "marketing talk". It's one thing to have a vision and another thing to implement a system that will actually deliver what you promised even after you die.
From personal experience I can tell you that the communist vision was great! But it had nothing to do with the reality.
I had BitDefender Quick Scanner (Firefox extension) and two days ago it was updated. After that no flash was displayed on any website. Only an "install missing plug-in..." message. I reinstalled the plug-in but the message remained. I went to their website to notice them but you must have a product key or something like that, and Quick Scanner was not even in the products list (it's a free add-on). At that point I gave up...
I updated my site on 15th Feb and today, 4th March, I can see the old links in Google and none of the new ones. It seems that they need also more servers...
I think if you have 200 visits on one site you can click 200 times the button to send money to that site, so that site will get a bigger chunk from the flat rate than other sites. At least this is my understanding of it...
Project management is done with Excel Sheets, which are mailed around and edited/annotated by multiple persons.
so true, I worked for a multinational company that used only Excel... for everything. For every type of report, they would send one Excel file to be filled and sent back every week. The receiver would get one file from every person and then compile some mega Excel file report. After a few weeks the mail came back. The Excel template was replaced with a new version so we had to fill in again the information but in the new file. Of course most of the information they requested was useless.
I had this fantasy in which I would have the power to make Excel disappear and then watch how all the "managers" would run around, hitting their heads because they lost all the reports.
oh... and their slogan was something about building the internet of tomorrow...
I used to work for a company where stress level was high. I did it for money, for 4 years. When that problem was solved I quit. Your body and mind it's like a car: if you abuse it, it will start to fail.
"Don't be evil" is old news.. so it's no longer 100% true for Google.
To be short:
-I've made a map website with a local map. My map is better than Google Maps one (made by a local company, more details), loads faster and you can search a specific street name (you can't do this in Google Maps for my location). However when you search '<local word for "map"> <location>' Google puts on top of the results it's own service widget, even if their service is worse than mine. In my opinion they should put their service together with the rest of the result, and of course, let it compete with the other websites.
-I've made another website for currency exchange rates, but when you search "<local currency>" Google already tells you what the exchange rate is so the user will not click on any of the results. The problem is that their exchange rate is not the right one (official rate) and that their service it's not competing with the rest of the results. Instead it is always presented on top of the page, bigger fonts, right in your face etc.
In the old times, Google was only about search. Now they started creating services that are the same with services other websites offer. This is still ok. It's not ok when their services are put on top of the results, even when they are not as relevant for that keyword as other websites.
Before you had:
top of the page - paid ads
first results - most relevant websites
Now you have:
top of the page - paid ads first result - Google's service, relevancy not important
other results - most relevant websites
this exactly why I'm not using it. But great library!

Soviet Union failed to give Eastern Europe their independence
they didn't fail anything. Their intentions were to occupy and this is what they did.

what about a tape in a loop? would that help?
a while back they didn't allow the key phrase "rent a car". Go figure.

l/100km it's like... drag racing: the distance is constant and you measure how much fuel you burn to cover that distance.

can't believe they didn't find the solution yet... it's so easy.
very nice, for a hand-held device; not very practical for living-room. You have to sit directly in front of it to see in 3D.

atheism is NOT an ideology or even an actual group or movement
exactly!
why he didn't publish his email?! I have a few offers...
...if you just relocate the people by sending them a letter with two weeks notice time.
a letter?! really? I would laugh if it would not be a very serious problem. Dictatorial regimes don't send letters because they don't care about you!
I agree with the rest of your post but stop being naive.
if it's Romania in there, it's BitTorrent.
Dugg for Romania!
oh wait...

never a bad ideea.

they planned it by saying they will quit China while it is clear, for me, that they will never do this.
Hard to know for sure.. it's a speculation.
I think a lot of people heard that Google was hacked and they want to get out of China. It was published on a lot of non-tech websites.
