Look, I know it's all the rage to show how much of a rebel you are by using Linux as a desktop system but it's getting old. How about you just get a real OS and stop pretending that you're "sticking it to the man" with the stupid open source ridiculousness?
You might think you can do all that stuff in real life or on the phone but I have plenty of people across the world that I've met through it - I can't exactly meet them in real life or call them up whenever I want. It's a good way to keep in touch.
As for the photos? How is that the fault of Facebook? Maybe people should get common sense to click the giant button labeled "share with" and change it if they don't want employers would anyone to see them.
All your points against Facebook have nothing to do with Facebook and everything to do with personal opinion.
You might be using Android, but the rest of the world isn't.
Chrome isn't a Google invention - the browser skin might be but it's built using Webkit, the same engine as Safari.
Google didn't invent Gmail.
They also didn't invent maps (and, really, how often do you use a mapping service)?
Have no idea what street view is, though I'm assuming it's part of Google Maps?
Google+? See Android. Who is actually using it besides a couple people?
You can store your documents so Google can get more information on you to sell to advertisers... until they decide to shut it down, like every other product they've release in the past ten years. Remember Buzz? Wave?! Not to mention it's not a unique idea - they just copied it from Dropbox.
Yeah, I'd say that's spot on - they HAVEN'T done much in terms of original ideas in ten years.
How many idiots does the RMV employ that they would think "Hm, you know what the roads in the US need more of? Driverless cars. What could possibly go wrong?".
I'm going to assume that a lot of money exchanged hands between Google and Nevada.
Either way, storing your data with GOOGLE is just asking for trouble. When have they ever done anything that's good for the consumer and not good for their advertising bottom line?

So a guy breaks the law and you expect everyone to smile, nod, and go "oh, that's ok.. you learned your lesson".
Get over it. The guy committed a crime so he should be punished - that's the way it works.
I'm not so sure that including the fact that your product will be inferior because it's made in the US is a good thing.
Seriously? Who WANTS things made in the US? I'd rather things work right...
This is a non-issue. Nobody - aside from stupid jingoists - really cares about this "buy American" crap.
To go over the world's stupidest idea.
Seriously, only the most rabid Google zealots will actually own these stupid things.
Assange is not some kind of superhero - he's a narcissistic douche.
Everyone needs to stop glorifying and deifying a pathetic rapist.
How about he requests asylum on the moon where we won't have to hear from the douchebag anymore?
I don't want to wear glasses to control a screen and look like an idiot.
I don't want to wave my arms around like a fool.
Just give me a controller and let me do it as it's always been done.
I'm so sick of these gimmicks already.
It's a free service - don't want ads, pay for credits.
Seriously, does Slashdot have to whine over every little thing?
I guess it's just easier to whine about how "their poor feelings were hurt" by the officers doing their jobs.
.lol describes them perfectly.
Then it's unfortunate I didn't notice - it's a shame they have to go and ruin the goodwill they have by supporting ambulance chasers.
But seeing their support for the EFF trolls in this latest one killed any interest in supporting them further.
Shouldn't the title of this post be "Sergey Brin demos the world's stupidest idea ever"?
Yes, actually.

You don't like something so that means EVERYONE shouldn't either?
Yup, sounds like Slashdot.
Without the spying and data collection that you've come to expect from a Google project?
Pretty sure Opera is already forgotten.

Who is honestly THAT bored that they're browsing a government website?
No one is "paying the price". Seriously, quit whining about DRM already. It's just annoying.
How many idiots does the RMV employ that they would think "Hm, you know what the roads in the US need more of? Driverless cars. What could possibly go wrong?".

I wish it was more - Google deserves it. I don't get why they're allowed to NEGOTIATE their fine, though.
NOW will the tech community stop fawning over them? Google does NOTHING for the betterment of the web - it's all about money, data, and advertisers.
Either way, storing your data with GOOGLE is just asking for trouble. When have they ever done anything that's good for the consumer and not good for their advertising bottom line?
Whenever I see someone mention 100 tabs, I wonder exactly wtf they're doing.
Porn. Lots and lots of porn?
I hear that silent, automatic updates were invented by Chrome, right?
