There is no such thing as a "last element" (ceiling) of ]-infinity, 1[. There is an upper bound, BTW, which is 1.

The thing is, as pointed out by the other posters, 0.99999... actually means lim_{n -> \infty} \sum_{i = 1}^{n} 9.10^{-i}, ie it is a limit of a sequence of numbers belonging to ]-infinity, 1[. Thus, by definition, this limit belongs to the closure of ]-infinity, 1[. And the closure of ]-infinity, 1[ is ]-infinity, 1]. Hence, it can be equal to one (and is).

The root of the problem, I think, is that people incorrectly assume there can only be one sequence of decimal digits describing a number. This is plain wrong.

It seems Hadopi announced it will consider the ISP have complied and sent the notices to their users, and will cut their connections and/or fine them accordingly (Hadopi has to send you a snail mail notice beforehand anyway). In other words, it seems Hadopi and Free are playing chicken on this one.

True. And you can still make VoIP calls and watch DSL TV channels during that period. The actual length of the disconnection (during which you cannot use the set top box as a TCP/IP router) is supposed to be "only" one month. You can also be fined up to 1500 euro, though. Given the typical ADSL subscription costs 30 euro a month, the fine is quite a big deal.

Wall jumping has been possible in every game of the series since Mario 64. For instance, it can be done in New Super Mario Bros DS and Wii, which are 2D platformers just like SMW.

And that, my friend, is why all the FREE software I write is PD. Not GPL.

I think Stallman insisted several times that freedom for the software (as in free software) did not mean freedom for the developer. A "truly free" piece of software is free because it cannot be made into a proprietary piece of software, according to the GPL.

I'm not saying the GPL is better than BSD/Public Domain, nor the opposite. Their aim is different.

On that list is France. France are also the people who are pushing the 3 strike law.

You seem confused. First and foremost, do not equate French people with their government. A lot of us are quite unhappy with what we undergo.

Back to the matter at hand. In France, there's an elected guy called Sarkozy who's quite cozy with "important people" from the entertainment business. He hences pushes for laws such as HADOPI (French 3 strikes law). But he has no right to do so, and quite logically the HADOPI law was overturned by the conseil constitutionnel. Seems pretty simple to me, so far. (Of course, he will probably try some workarounds to pass his law anyway, but given internet access has been deemed a "human right," it seems pretty difficult.)

Going back to 2d and not on a handheld means there's a chance to get those looooong levels that aren't based on "haha didn't see that coming" tiny screen cheap shots and grinding/rocketing/whatevering level gimmicks back.

2D sonic games look(ed) fast because of fast scrolling and nothing more. If you have enough time to see what's coming ahead, this means scrolling isn't that fast, hence the whole game seems comparatively slower (big screen or not, high res or not). YVMV, but I wouldn't expect substantial gameplay improvements on this aspect.
