MS certainly made strides on search in vista and extended that into Windows 7. I'm in front line tech support and the search actually works. Instead of walking customers through several steps I just have them search for it. Search brings it right down to their comfort level. A new file system would be nice but I'm usually pretty organized so it's not a big issue.

If you are incompitent of course you can't be a good judge of leadership. I don't believe that has anything to do with the failure of the democratic process. Voter apathy, laziness, greed and corruption are very good reasons why the democratic process has failed (at least in the USA ymmv). What's the average voter turnout of a presidential election, reps or senate? Compare that to say 50 years ago. I don't know the numbers but I'll bet they are consistently getting lower. The voters are getting lazy and we'd rather play our Xbox than pay attention to who is holding the reins of power. We've let corporate interests and big money dictate who has power. Look at the presidential race as a perfect example. Hell thhat far right wacko santorum couldn't even get himself on the ballot in most of Ohio because he didn't have an organization already set up. He's been running on a shoestring budget and the only reason he has any money is because the far right is so afraid of a Mormon being elected president. I'm pretty sure Mitt, Newt and Ron didn't have trouble getting themselves on the ballot because they have money. That's my 2$.

Residents of the UK it's time to rise up and take your country back. Residents of the USA, don't think that couldn't happen here just because we own more guns.

Aside from the glory of returning rocks from Mars(over rated imho) what scientific purpose does the preposed mission fulfill? How much do they expect it would cost? Lets face it we all are underwriting the cost of what Nasa does so it better be worth it. I'm a skeptic so unless you come at me with some hard facts chances are that Mars can keep it's rocks for now.

    It also pollutes less

You should tell that to the people out in western Pennsylvania that are consistently having their well water polluted. People have been trying for months to get the oil companies to clean up their mess to no avail. The "OIL" that comes from fracking (or any source) isn't ready to be used in cars etc when it comes from the ground. It has to be refined. Most of our domestic refineries have been closing due to cheaper costs overseas. Maybe you didn't know that only 2 of the highest producing refineries (per wikipedia) are located in the United States. And those two are producing the lowest volume of refined oil. So now you can see why that oil takes a while to get to market.

  15. Re:reserved on US Wants Natural Gas As Major Auto Fuel Option · · Score: 1

Just bite the bullet and let enery costs rise. They will anyway, and not trying to stop it will cause a slow and steady rise, which has the best chances of stimulating alternative sources while not causing sudden market crashes, while leaving you the strategic reserves for emergencies.

I sort of agree with your statement however in the short term if we release oil in small increments it will help the economy. I just don't see innovation through necessity happening here. At least not in America. We're too backward a country to lead in alternative fuels just yet.

My local landfill has been doing that for a few years now. It's a good idea and all landfills should be doing. All of that methane they capture used to be released to the atmosphere. The problem with adding natural gas (or the oil they get from fracking) is that it does nothing to change the energy prices we are paying right now. You have to factor in how much time it takes to refine anything you get. I've heard one expert say it can take at least 5-7 years to get to market. Demand is always an issue too. We need to release some of the strategic reserves to drive down the cost. It is an election year so who knows when he will do it.
