Dodd and the MPAA are not going to take this sort of thing sitting down.
Let them. They will kill the industry which is exactly what needs to happen. I always say this and it rings true to this day "they need us (to buy in to their monopoly) more than we need them. If a company makes it difficult to do business people will go elsewhere or in this case do something else.
terrorism do not occur when all people are given a house, have food to eat, and free education to walk into their future.
There will always be someone who has those things and hates the government. There have been people (Timothy Mcveigh being one of them) who have those things and have commited or would like to commit domestic terrorism. I'll grant you this, your way does right injustice in this country but it will never solve terrorism. Some peoplke are just wired for hatred. Why is this news for nerds anyway?
+1 Insightful. How foolish was I to completely overlook the transubstansiate matter angle. Those sneaky Russkies think they can fool us but they have another thing coming.
Regarding Newt Gingrich, He is a professional womanizer and prescription drug junkie. Oh sorry that Rush dude was the prescription pill junkie but they all have the same politics (me first fuck the little guy) so I guess it's all good.
Think about this for a moment. What possible interest could the United States government have in a probe heading to Mars. We are not in a space race with Russia anymore. If anything we should be sabotaging China's space program. Then again if their space program is anything like their high speed rail program I think they can manage for themselves.
Imagine the shit hitting the fan when the Congresscritters realize that SOPA is useless.
They don't care if their legislation is useless. They wrote what they were paid for and until they get paid again they don't give a $hit. "Your government at work for you"
Researchers took very early stem cells, called totipotent stem cells, from separate developing embryos and basically glued them together, implanting the mixed embryos into surrogate mother monkeys. The cells â" from totally different sources â" didnâ(TM)t fuse, but worked together in harmony, forming fully fledged, normal, healthy animals.
I suppose if the stem cells were fused it would be cross species but it's pretty clear they are seperate stem cells developing independant of eachother in the same womb.
The store may be private property but essentially you are in a public place. You are easily observable and can be followed by anyone who can obtain the same information. If the supermarket openly stated that they were doing this I don't have a problem with that. Some people may so they should turn the cell phone off. No big deal here. Of course there is a chance that the information is misused but I think we'll have t wait and see what happens.
Don't we have some predators that these pests can't develop an immunity to? This whole GM crop thing was just a money grab anyway right. More BS if you ask me.
+1 LMAO.... oh wait most everyone in this economy has to shop at walmart at one time or another. And some people who are technically considered at or below the poverty line pretty much have to shop there to make their dollars stretch as far as possible. Bummer.
I agree that there anti-competetive tactics are pretty disgusting and it's a shame they are smearing Samsung. Reality check: how many other companies given the same amount of power Apple wields would not use it in the same way? Purchase your phone based on what features are important and forget all the hype.
How many parents do you know that can afford to stay home and tutor their children in place of going to school? The author of TFA also fails to understand that children learn in different ways and book learning alone is not the best way for everyone. E-readers might be a good way to supplement learning but I can't see how it could replace a teacher in a classroom setting.
I do't believe anyone here expects customer information to be 100% breach free. Rather I was commenting on how some companies that are entrusted with customer information don't do enough to protect it and are not punished appropriatly when a breach occurs. I see a culture of lax security in this country which (in recent years) has resulted in some spectacular data thefts. I am not in the security business so from a consumer standpoint there does not seem to be enough punitive action to correct this. It is my opinion that several high profile class action lawsuits would send a message that you can't just say you're sorry and give a person a free credit repot for a year to get off the hook. Maybe it is not the best way to approach the issue but it's certainly a start.
I'd like to see a law firm launch a class action suit against a company that has failed to take reasonable measures to protect customers data. Hell I'd go so far as to say that it's the best use of a class action lawsuit ever. AFAIK there is no effective legislation that is doing the job. All it takes is one lawsuit to set a precident right? Hell lawyers are supposed to be good at identifying this kind of opportunity so what's the deal? Are they too busy chasing ambulances?
Who funded the study??? There's always some ulterior motive behind controversial studies and usually the company who paid for the study is the one with the motive. And furthermore why do we need plants that have been GM to be resistent to certain threats? IMHO The better choice would be to use bugs to kill what ever threat your crop faces. That makes more sense than genetically modifying your eco system. Then again I'm not a farmer but I'm sure some other folks here can suggest alternatives.
He was an internet master. In a country where abject poverty is so commonplace anyone just having a computer could be considered an internet expert. And now he has truly found his place.... a hole in the ground.
Three decades is the dream. If congress keeps up this partisan bickering it's likely to be four decades. Seriously though, JWST is going to change everything and corporate farms get enough handouts so they can just deal with it.
This fool is no brighter than that Ted Stevens jackass from Alaska. Let him F$%#$ it up and then wonder why his email takes to long to go through all those pipes. Only in America do we have fools who are uninformed but still qualified to pass judgement on things they don't understand.
NO SLEEP TILL DOPA!!!!
I'm not really downing Google on this one as it could have gone either way. Option 1: UMG "This is infringing on our IP (censorship). Take it down or we bury you in an avalanche of lawsuits. Now of course Google can handle their lawsuits but it's really not in their shareholders best interest to rack up a bunch of billable hours.
Option 2: You take the deal and no one (of consequence) gets hurt.
If the artists in the video wanted to make a statement they could have done a better job of it by not renewing contracts with UMG. There are other ways of getting your music out there without big music taking a piece of you. I thought musicians made more money on concerts and merchandising anyway so why deal with these bastards?

Bring on the glass parking lot.

Careful there mate. I resemble that remark.

Nagin after Katrina went through the gun licenses and ordered the national guard to confiscate every gun in the city. And they did.
That was a foolish move. It's the guns that are not registered that you have to worry about. They won't take my gun.

+1 lots of flamebait filled with personal opinion and lean on facts. Whatever this guy was smoking I think he should put it down.

None of my mail is so important that I need to encrypt it. The FBI can look through my email at will.
It's a standard "defensive driver" technique to look behind you at a light in case you get rearended.
Keeping your foot on the break will do just fine in that situation.
