    When I meant exactly when it would implode, I really meant to the accuracy to the quarter. Plus or minus a couple of years doesn't count :)

    I started shorting the market late 2006 because house prices were already starting to clearly drop nationwide, but the craziness continued and the market continued to rise into late 2007. Luckily, I held onto them for long enough.

    I mean who didn't realize housing was in a bubble, besides paid economists with special interests or complete morons? It was blindingly obvious since 2005.

    I only credit anyone for calling exactly when it would completely implode. That took brains.

    a) if you worked for the government and are a pervert, just use convicted guy's identity and then you'll be able to do what you want and pin it on someone no jury will believe.

    b) if the perv is dumb enough to use the account, he can now make the case that he's not the only one with access to that account, therefore he didn't do it.

    Try using VMware converter to convert it into a vmdk, and then run it on virtual box. The free version should let you do that.

    You could save the money on a lawyer.

    You'll likely get sued regardless of whether they have a case or not. If you have the money to fight it, it will drag on for some time.

    If you ever need to raise money, no VC will invest in your company if they know you have a potential legal liability.

    Depending on the nature of the software (more likely to happen if its expensive / low volume), your previous company may try to harass your customers too.

    It sucks, but its the nature of the game. Unless the current company that you work for isn't willing to do anything quasi-legal to preserve their business.

    Most people learn in kindergarten that just because you can get away with doing something wrong doesn't mean you should.

    Most people learn in their adult life, that if everyone else is doing something wrong and using that to stay ahead of you and isn't getting caught, you must do the same to stay competitive.

    Microsoft isn't in kindergarten.

    When I saw those shows where they found multiple people not able to find Iraq on the map, I was shocked.

    I know stupid/ignorant people exist, but I would figure out those guys reporting it would have to be camping out for days to find that many ignorant people. From the footage (assuming it was on the same day), it seems like they didn't have to spend more than a couple of hours.

    I was actually wondering as well, so I actually read the linked wiki article on Liquid metal embrittlement: From the article:

    Exceptions to this rule have been observed, as in the case of aluminium in the presence of liquid gallium.[1]

    Plug light into inverter.

    Why not skip this bit, and use a lower-voltage bulb? An LED array might be best, for the very low power needed. Even better yet, skip the battery, the inverter and the panel, and install a window / skylight. :)
