I run Linux boxen, where nearly all the software is freeware/open source. I don't need all the piddly add-ons that make Windows usable because most every Linux Distro comes complete and needs little more to meet my every needs. I also write software, which I give away. My contribution back for the things that I use.
For 25 years I missed Thankgiving, Christmas, Labor Day, and Easter, but starting in 2001 I "just said no" - ya know what? Management didn't even blink. They made arrangements for me to do it during "normal" times like all the other employees - and I don't feel a BIT guilty...
Senator John Edwards of North Carolina is a strong proponent of privacy. You can contact him via his web site.
Suggest he align himself with Rep. Bob Goodlatte.
Edwards is a good man and he actually reads his email...
I was all ready to move to Mozilla, but in our corporate environment we use LDAP as the default directory. None of the Lizard mailers support it for address lookup. As a company we are being driven to that ugly, proprietary platform-specific mailer from MacroFloss.
Will Moz EVER support LDAP??

We have much the same schedule, but we get reimbursed at 2.50 / hr to "carry the pager" and answer incoming calls. That's 128 "after hours" hours over 7 days. That's an extra $320. Note that the after hours calls must be of "an emergency nature" or we aren't required to respond until the next business day. If a call requires that we visit the office we get our hourly rate for a minimum of 4 hours (or actual if it takes longer). - Calls are logged and reviewed by management.
We have GeekPAC, founded by the guys who do The Linux Show and it needs your support.
I believe it was Shakespeare who originally solved this issue. The quote is: "First we kill all the lawyers..."
"The only thing I expect out of lawyers is that they be back in their coffins by sunup."

Free Software - Open Source is the answer.

Just so long as it doesn't run a Microsoft OS. A Blue Screen of Death is something I would SURELY want to avoid!!!

When the OS wars are over - Unix will be the winner, only it'll be called Microsoft Windows..
