Ditto that, my wife and very very rarely watch live TV. Probably the only time I will is when I've watch all of the Dr. Whos and what not, and the only thing left is my wife's Oprahs. (blech)
I agree, when I first read the headline I assumed it meant "dated" as in archaic (i.e. your Mary Poppins example). Maybe "Release Date Set" would have been better suited than "dated".
Anyway, if I make a game console and call it X-Box (as opposed to Microsoft's XBox) it can (very effectively) be argued that I am attempting to capitalize on Microsoft's trademark and their millions of dollars spent promoting that trademark.
In this case I don't see anyone being able to make the argument that Google is attempting to capitilize on G-Mail's well promoted at-great-price trademark.
The argument may also be made that this is not the reason for these types of trademarks, but this is just my two cents.
My uhm...son told me that Disney's MMO game, ToonTown will also be having a massive Bloodsucker Lawbot invasion sometime(s) this weekend. Yeah my son, that's it!
BitTorrent has a lot of initial overhead (setting up trackers, and all the protocol stuff). I'm not sure if it would be wise for small files?
Not really, its true benefits are only realized on larger files, say 50-100M or more. Small (<10M) won't really benefit from the true scalability features of BitTorrent. Plus, you're right, it takes a little bit of work to set up a tracker and create your torrents, etc that aren't really worth it for small files.
Now an archive of like 5 albums worth of MP3's, that would be BitTorrent worthy:)
So don't worry, disconnecting after you finish is okay. You did your civic duty by sharing the bits while your download was in process. Enjoy your game guilt free.
Maybe...although it is much nicer if you let your u/l to d/l ratio is at least 50% - 100% is even nicer. You can can quit right after you finish, but it would be like only sharing 10% or so of your files on P2P networks that you downloaded. A step up from a true leech but not sharing completely.
I dunno...this isn't out of the realm of possibility.
A number of years ago, my grandfather was at a diner in New Jersey (where he was a bus driver) and he ordered a peice of apple pie after his dinner. It was pretty good, and knowing my grandmother was a pretty good cook he asked the waitress if he could have a recipe. She said she would send out the chef. The chef came out and said my grandfather could have the recipe for $300. My grandfather said "It was good, but not *that* good, thanks anyway."
1. If it is an executable, it will create a Shortcut.
Sometimes...I think this is true for main executables (that is, ones that run interactive programs, Word/Notepad/AIM/Etc) but for secondary exe's (system programs like the print spooler/or other programs that run in the background) they are just moved. I'm not sure what the exact qualification for deciding a move/shortcut is, although I have only observed this differentiation in Win2K and above.
What happens if it is a mapped network share on the same computer?
Makes a copy
However I'd like to point out that you can control which type you'd like to make by holding CTRL, SHIFT or both. CTRL + Drag (almost?) always copies. SHIFT + Drag (usually) moves, and CTRL + SHIFT + Drag (most of the time) creates a shortcut. If that's not plain to anyone then I don't know what is!;)
The same guy who was responsible for VMS is responsible for Windows NT. You can think of NT as an attempt of a next generation VMS, with a DOS-like command line and a Windows GUI.
A computer prof I had pointed out the above fact as well as the letters VMS shifted up one is:
VMS -> WNT (WinNT)

This is it. Mir will come crashing down into the ocean. Or possible my private island in the South Pacific where I will make the Mir museum/tourist trap^H^H^H^Hattraction and makes lots of money. It fits quite well into my plan of world domination. Bwahahaha...sorry. Too much Pinky & the Brain.
So what kind of applications can this really be used for? What I'm getting at is what kind of things could someone do with this *other* than things we can do now with 2D and scaling/rotation/rendering of 3D objects.
If we exclude A) Games (not to say that it shouldn't be used for such, just those aren't really "Applications," and besides that's just an example of doing something 2D better)
and B) Layout (architecture, medical, true visualization type apps that are just better version of 2D apps) what do we have left?
Please don't misunderstand - I'm not against any of these apps, but I would like to hear what you/.ers think about applications that are outside of the 2 above-mentioned categories that we *can't* do now because of the lack of true 3D viewing and resolution.
It does say at the top of the page that there was a correction made today (Oct 3) which includes 2 applications which were previously omitted. It is possible that one of JVTeam's was one of the applications omitted. Or not. I dunno.

Am I a Google fan-boy? Maybe...

We B prOn EWS
EWS = ??? (use your imagination)
If six months of 1 cubic buttload (cb) or 6 months * 30 days * 1 cb = 180 cb = 100 MB then he must have received 180 cb * 3 = 540 cb = 100 MB.
I use ClamAV on my mail server and it works pretty good.
When you think mediocrity, think ClamAV
Just look for the war chalk signs on the side of Moe's bar and other places.

No, I believe that was Utopia, another term have coined from ancient Greek.

Oh, makes sense.
Thanks!
Holodeck, here we come.

I never knew that....is that true?
