It's as if they're trying to rig the search results and hide all the hate! What next, calling it the & interface, just so that searching for it will be a pain?:P
I've made peace with Unity by forcing the side-bar to be permanently hidden, and relying on Synapse (It's a Gnome-DO alternative) to access applications and files. Works for me!
This is how it is in Indian newspapers. The omission of facts is to deflect accusations of biased reporting, and prevent the possibility of inciting further violence by helping miscreants identify "enemies". While in the West, such omissions may indirectly indict Muslims, it's more complex than that because of the many religions and their sub-sects in India. There have been times when Hindu castes have attacked each other over ridiculous reasons (Boy of Caste A sitting in a park with girl of Caste B). Reasons for flare-ups are commonly moral policing (Women in pubs! Won't someone preserve Indian culture? Take up arms!), alleged "insults" to $Deity and inter-religious relationships. Most of the country can only look at such incidents with condemnation and disgust.
Non-geek users don't usually open terminals to install packages. They need simple interfaces. Ubuntu Software Centre, for example, has been in Ubuntu versions since 9.10. That could be one of several reasons.
I'm in India, and a few months ago, Google decided to push its languages to users based on their IP addresses, I guess. I logged into YouTube to find it completely in Hindi! Guess what Google, India has over 2 dozen "official" languages, and not everyone prefers Hindi! What a half-assed effort to promote usage in local languages!
You clearly need someone to send you printed instructions to download Whatsapp :)
Or maybe they could just Voxer you
DIE!
Or that Slashdot still has the ability to slashdot websites.
Or you could just carry LibreOffice portable along with the documents.

Cool story bro
When an action (or lack thereof) is suspicious, follow the money. There's no money for the MAFIAA in pursuing these spammers.
You, sir, are in luck! You can keep your $50 because Chromium is free.

Cryonics!
Gee, I wonder if that has anything to do with Asia having well above half of the world's population.
When this article makes the rounds on Associated Press, it should really help disperse the 2012 apocalypse bullshit.
Does the cloud ceiling include its own imaginary creature(s)?

She? This is Slashdot!
Just the version number would suffice, I think, unless, of course, your client/boss likes to hear such words

Who said anything about addiction?
I can't believe this issue still remains without a fix!

Doublethink!
Yes, it is. There are several extensions, one of which is Facebook Disconnect.
Beats my cheap-ass 512 kbps connection anyday!
Indiana Jones's Desktop Adventure! Too bad it won't run on Ubuntu
