  1. Wall Street Journal? on Why WikiLeaks Is Unlike the Pentagon Papers · · Score: 1

I thought that paper lost all of its integrity since becoming part of News Corp. People still read it?

  2. Re:What a bunch of nerds. on Homemade Robotic Xylophone Plays Holiday Melodies · · Score: 1

MIDI? Oh, right. A geek/nerd wouldn't use a standard that has existed for 20+ years just to play jingle bells.

  3. Re:It's not a xylophone. on Homemade Robotic Xylophone Plays Holiday Melodies · · Score: 1

And why it is played with C macros and not a MIDI file?

  4. It's not a xylophone. on Homemade Robotic Xylophone Plays Holiday Melodies · · Score: 1

I hate when nerds don't know their stuff. Xylophones and Marimbas are made from wood. Orchestra Bells and Glockenspiels are metal. Also, striking the bar directly in the middle is what makes them sound so bad. The 'mallet' should be off center for the same reason the suspension bars are. Putting the hammers on the ends of the bars would improve the sound dramatically (theoretically).

  5. Is this even true? on Obama Wants Broader Internet Wiretap Authority · · Score: 1

The link points to Fox News. I automatically assumed it's fiction. Anyone confirm this?

  6. Is the server OK? on Drunken Employee Shoots Server · · Score: 5, Funny

The article didn't even mention if the server was ok or not.

  7. Call the local TV station on Retrieving a Stolen Laptop By IP Address Alone? · · Score: 1

They'll send a reporter to the house asking how they feel about taking someone's property without asking.

  8. Something new everyday on 3rd-Grader Busted For Jolly Rancher Possession · · Score: 1

Every day Texas surprises me with something new regarding how much it would suck to live in that state.

  9. Sexual Content on Cub Scouts To Offer Merit Pin For Video Gaming · · Score: 1

I would imagine any video games portraying homosexuality in any manner are strictly verboten. All characters in all games must be heterosexual. Pikachu would be an example of a verboten character.

  10. Re:Yawn on Ex-Googler Obama Appointee Gets Buzz'ed · · Score: 2, Insightful

What's worse? A oil company lobbyist as vice president or a google lobbyist in a position no one cares about?

  11. Re:I agree on Will Your Answers To the Census Stay Private? · · Score: 1

As mentioned above: race implies certain genetic dispositions and this is helpful to research (and pro-active treatment?) in, say, the health department. Sociologists will also use it. And you are limited to the number of really cool interactive graphs you can make from census data without it.

  12. Re:I agree on Will Your Answers To the Census Stay Private? · · Score: 1

That's a stupid thing for him to say. Oh, wait. That's the only kind of thing he says.

  13. No Cartridges on Commodore 64 Primed For a Comeback In June · · Score: 1

So, not only will this thing not come loaded with C64 emulation software, it won't have the required Game Cartridge slot. What a waste of a name licensing opportunity.

  14. Student retroactively fails ConstitutionaLaw class on Yale Law Student Wants Government To Have Everybody's DNA · · Score: 1

This just in: Michael Seringhaus has had his grade in Constitutional Law retroactively changed from a B- to an F because of an Opinion Piece he wrote in The New York Times last Sunday. When contacted, his former teacher called him a complete idiot and thinks he probably cheated on his final exam. Mr. Seringhaus was not available for comment.

  15. Boba Fett? on Star Wars TV Show Tainted By Memories of Jar Jar · · Score: 1, Interesting

When did he become a major character? He had, what, 5 lines in all of the movies combined?

  16. It doesn't matter right now on Google's Experimental Fiber Network · · Score: 1

I have a 20Mb fiber line and seldom get speeds above 1Mb. Once I get off the ISP's network, the speeds are throttled down either by other carriers or the destination website.
