    3. glue the AL foil strip to a peice of paper, then , stick another peice of paper on top, glue another strip of foil above the other location, another peice of paper, etc.

    4. Stick stack of paper with embeded AL Foil into microwave.

    Observe results.

It is my hypothesis that each strip of AL foil will gather a charge, and try to discharge through the paper, therby setting it on fire/scorching it.

I've been messing around with the Greddy Emanage in my RX-8. It is a piggy back ECU that can manage fuel, and ignition. So far, i've been able to pump out 37 more RWHP with "safe" tuning.

Of course, the RX-8 was de-tuned when they brought it into the US, so the cat-converters would last the required 100,000 miles. (Rotary's exhaust is very, very hot... it can and does eat cats for lunch)

With a wide-open exhaust, intake, and more tweeks to the piggyback , i bet I could get the RX-8 to 260RWHP.

At the Detroit Autoshow Media Preview days, I had a chance to talk to an engineer from Mazda about hydrogen Rotaries (if you are unaware of Mazda H2 Rotaries, check out this website

They said the largest problem for them right now with hydrogen is delivery and distrobution. Mazda has the in-vehicle delivery system basically in place, and can, within a matter of months, crank out rotary powered hydrogen cars. "We are ready to go" he said, "If they distribution system was in place today, we'd be number one on the market.

Additionally, he said retrofitting older fuel injected rotaries (13b RX-7's from 1984 on) would only need the fuel tank replaced, injectors replaced, and computer repoogrammed.

The remaining problem: there is only 68k BTUs per ft3 for H2 compressed at 3500 psi. At the same ft3 for gas yeilds 922k BTUs. Increasing the PSI for in car storage is a major research focus for the auto industry right now... Hyundai has developed a 5000 psi tank, but that still falls short of the 922 BTU's that has has at 1 ft3

  9. Rotaries Rock!! on Hack Your Ignition (Before Someone Else Does) · · Score: 2, Interesting

Old rotary engines?!! Rotary Engine technology has come a LONG way since the 70's... and even more so since Mazda stopped importing the RX-7 in 95. The latest Rotary Engine rebuilders put in 3mm ceramic coated apex seals, ECU's that contain 3D reprogrammable fuel maps, boost controllers that employ fuzzy logic to activate the turbo's waste gate, ignition computers that increase spark, knock sensor computers that keep the engine from pinging/grenading, and intercoolers that cool 30-40% better with less pressure drop through them. Porting is now a fine art, and there are at least 20 different general ways to port a rotary. With minimal effort, and money ($3k-4k) you can get 300 horses and 300 ftlbs of torque out of a 13B-REW. Most tuner shops drop the stock twin turbos in favor of one large one, that pushes past the 500hp barrier... there have been a few that have 700 hp. And this is all with 1.3L 2 rotors. Those lucky engough to have 3 rotors (imported from japan) start out with 400 hp, and go up from there!

<sidenote>I'm putting down 313 Rear Wheel Horse Power, and 301 ftlbs or torque with basic bolt on 'hacks' (mods)...(Here is my dyno sheet) Intake, exhaust, intercooler, and computer. I replaced the engine at 130,000 miles because a vacuum hose popped off my wastegate, and caused the turbos to boost well past 15lbs, with no extra fuel to compensate... ping! Apex seal blew. I'm now at 150,000 miles, zip-tied vacuum hoses, and have had nothing but dependable and fun to drive Mazda Zoom Zoom-y-ness </sidenote>

Mazda is re-introducing the rotary later this year with the RX-8. Now called the RENESIS, the engine is a non-turboed multi-side-port 1.3L rotary, that is projected to put out 255-280 HP . The computer should be easy to hack, and a turbo kit will be available shortly after the introduction of the car. I would estimate about +330 HP from a turboed RENESIS.
