Yes indeed; further, it seems the trick is to first identify what is to be powered by this project since some whole-system project is off the table. If not a cell phone, then what? Without answering that first this seems like a search for a solution in search of a problem.
"Pesky" is about the mildest possible word for the 14th amendment. It's tragic how something intended to make the former slaves into citizens became perverted into what it is used for today.
Why do they not strictly follow it? Because Requirement 6: Develop and maintain secure systems and applications is a simple, easy to understand sentence that represents thousands of worker hours and millions of dollars to implement for a large corporation with multiple systems. It's almost certainly cheaper to pay the fine. What's more effective is a loud shame campaign letting customers know about lapses and another positive campaign about compliers. The customers will make quite effective 'fines' by going to the compliant companies.
Capitalism, which is by definition competitive. There is always a winner and a loser in Capitalism
Competition is a subset of capitalism. The other half of capitalism is free trade (as in free trade, not as in 'NAFTA'). In competition there is always a winner and a loser. In real free trade there is always a winner and a winner. Otherwise no one in their right mind would do it. And A free to trade with B instead of C means C is the loser of the B-C competition but A and B both the winners of the trade because they both got what they wanted.

Online auction site eBay acquired a 28.4% stake when it bought shares from a former employee who had been given equity by Mr Newmark.
Public company: Shares for sale to/from anyone via the official markets (NASDAQ, AMEX, NYSE). Private company: Shares for sale to/from anyone via go find them yourself and hand over the cash in person.

Ignorance of business gets you screwed by the first unscrupulous person you have to do business with. Good luck with that unless you're a hunter/gatherer hermit who never does business with anyone.
So how will tcpip networking over this speed measure up to dedicated storage devices like SAN over fibre channel? I have to suspect not; existing iSCSI over 1GB tcpip is a lot less than 1/4 of 4GB fibre to a decent SAN. Sigh, I'm afraid even more of my databases will get hooked up to cheap iSCSI over this instead of SANs space that costs more dollars per capacity but delivers the speed when needed:( Reports coming up fast enough? Remember the planning phase when the iSCSI sales rep promised better performance per $ than SAN? It wasn't better overall performance, just better per $. There's a BIG difference.
The first thought that comes to mind is whether the 8xxx and newer with the stream processors would need a completely different programming approach compared to the prior models. This being/., who wants to be first to pretend to know the answer?
Was it ethics or good business sense? Unethical is a subset of stupidly greedy. The overlending that caused the problem was stupidly greedy on the parts of both the lenders who wanted sales today and the people who knew in the back of their minds that they couldn't afford the rising payments. The bailing out of a private firm with public funds by a former crony who is now the Treasury Secretary is unethical.
Are CS majors from non-tech school considered inferior
It's getting so that any bachelor's degree is about worthless except as a stepping stone to a master's degree, mainly thanks to absurd grade inflation. If you show up to class 90% of the time and are sober, you'll get straight A's in most bachelor's programs these days (if you don't show up or aren't sober, you'll only get a B+). So I advise going to whatever school has the most interesting non-CS bachelor's program that you're interested in just for fun and then spend another year and a half or two getting an MS in CS from a serious CS school. The difference in starting salaries and opportunities between an MS and a BS make this more than worthwhile. I advise this as someone who has a BA in non-CS from a state school and an MS in IT from a prestigious private school - salaries and opportunities are a LOT better with an MS.
Modern cars get better mileage with the windows rolled up and the AC on than with the with the AC off and the windows rolled down
You need to caveat that with 'at highway speeds'... the AC's draw is less efficient anytime your speed is not high enough to create a lot of drag from the windows down.
Since this is a business expense then if it is a fair amount it can be capitalized and depreciated over time. Big bonus when it comes to tax time. And if the business is so small that 1300 is a prohibitive amount then maybe he's better off with a 99 cent notebook and some pencils for keeping track of sales.
say. Does running three 787s on one route twice a day work out cheaper than two A380's once a day?
The thing is, when the passenger demand level goes down to 2 787's worth, you can't put 2/3 of an A380 on another route. Also, the 787 is just about the right size that it can provide service to a lot more cities than the A380 just because there isn't always that many people who want to move between city pairs at that time of day and/or there aren't enough other planes line up for so many people to connect to.
Yeah, but how about 876-5309 ?

All I can say is, I'm glad most spammers aren't hearing impaired or else this might really turn into a problem.

English and non-english speakers
Non-issue. Only citizens can vote and there is an (small but existant) English comprehension test as part of citizenship testing.
Also c^2 is NOT a constant, c is the constant
2 is the constant; c changes with the medium through which light is travelling.

Oh yeah? Well double dickhead on you.

Where was I for all *those* Voyager episodes?!?!?! Dammit!!!
I'm in command of a nuclear submarine

Fine by me if they're smarter, as long as they're not hungrier. But what if they're both? Be careful what you wish for.
I always thought that's why it's the "prime" directive - because it's the first one to go out the window when inconvenient.

stuffed into a corner of that idiot's office
Dude, what corner? His office is oval. Who looks like the bigger idiot now?
When usage starts peaking there is no way to get the sun to send down more energy
Seriously huge capacitors and batteries - run the thing at 100% regardless of load and store the surplus for those over the top demand times.

Usually a W format screen is 16:10
Heck with that; I want 2.66:1 Cinemascope ratio for my next laptop screen.

...I should have added, "but if the Chinese announce this kind of plan, watch out."

Something this big really needs governments to support it
The tricky bit is that said government must be able to afford it. Russia is not currently on that list.
