    Controlled substance is implying opiates and the like, not antibiotics. At least I think that's what they were going for.

    antibiotics are not "controlled", but they require a script. Well I suppose that makes them controlled - but you don't go to jail for having them sans script, and people don't doctor shop for antibiotics.

    the sort of innate "what makes this tick?" mentality. As a kid, I was always taking stuff apart to see how it works, building stuff (and as I learned more) fixing stuff.

    At the same time, my sister was playing with barbies.

    You need the "knack" (as dilbert calls it) to be good with technology, be it electronic hardware or software, mechanical, etc. I find the amount of women with it to be very few and far between, I wish there were more.

    When I can't sleep, I often find myself thinking about a circuit, or how to code around a problem, etc. I just don't see many girls with this mentality, it's a shame really.

    I meant more along the lines of... if breaking the GPL becomes rampant, outfits will lose fear, and you get a sort of critical mass that will be hard to go after, rather than an actual legal loss of strength. If that makes sense at all.

    They gave them fair warning. If they don't defend the GPL it loses it's strength.
    If you are unable to follow the licence, you shouldn't be using the code, simple as that...

    Yeah. They charge usage (kWh, Joule, whatever) not a flat rate based on the fact that you house has 120 ampere service.

    On the other hand, if your house only had 15 amp service, and you couldn't use the microwave, fridge, and TV at the same time, I bet you would want a discount.

    Sure a bunch of it is aimed at Americans, but I also get some Russian targeted ads (apartments for sale by Moscow, you're invited to some conference in Novosibirsk, etc etc)

    But it does seem that the vast majority of spam is indeed english, ime.

    Stuff you don't want to have handy, but don't want to get rid of either was my interpretation. Like taking ancient files and putting them in a box in the basement, instead of taking up prime real estate in the filing cabinet. right?

    Not on any of my older thinkpads with Pentium M?
    The T4x, X4x, T2x, X2x series I've had all spool up, batteries or not. I've never had anything newer, so I'm not sure how the new core stuff works, but I presume it would be the same.

    Some things are more prone to going sideways than others though. Soyuz is simple... kerosene and LOX, with the crew being on the farthest point from the engine.

    There's no kill switch on solid fuel rockets.

    We've got the standard police warning, sorta reads like a poem.

    "You need not say anything. You have nothing to hope from any promise or favour and nothing to fear from any threat whether or not you say anything. Anything you do say may be used against you as evidence."

    That, and there's a bit in the charter about being free to seek counsel, etc.

    "I am arresting you for [offence]. It is my duty to inform you that you have the right to retain and instruct counsel without delay. Do you understand?" etc.

    Bingo. European diesels from the last 20 years are in no way related to the horrible 1970's GM 350 diesel conversions. Well, apart from the fact that they run on diesel.

    If you didn't notice the abundance of torque and better mileage, you'd think you were driving a gas car.

    SSHFS But if you just need sync, I fail to see why SVN doesn't cut it for you...
