Real truth is that VCs are not reliably better at picking winners than the average monkey with a dart board. They just have enough of other people's money to play the game. Like any other random distribution, a few of them have lucky streaks. Doesn't make them smarter than their peers, just lucky.
No lie. This was my actual experience. The fraud is in the misrepresentation that their on air process was in fact the real process. Why you would lie in their defense is the real question.
And my wife comes up with my occasionally varying sigs - I just use what I am told to use.
I called in once to see about getting a diagnosis on a car issue. They took the info, and said they would get back if they found it interesting, but if they did, then the whole phone call would be essentially scripted. They would do (or have done) a diagnosis off air, then pretend to figure it out all in the span of a few hyena-larious moments on air.
I believe we should strive for better education at every turn, and especially in the science/technical areas. However, the comparison with other countries in these types of studies never takes into account any filtering that may occur before the test is administered. Many countries filter their students at a young age into 'appropriate' educational paths, and those that are then considered in these international 'competitions' are not necessarily representative of the population at large. Any results that do not take this into account are silly.
Actually, it could be posited that Star Trek inspired many to go in to the space business, and thus, should warp travel be achieved, could deserve partial credit for helping to create the time stream that led there.
A whole house surge protector is not expensive, and easy to install. They simply mount to the main box and connect to the mains, either through a circuit breaker or where the main line connects to the panel. Trivial through the (double/240V) breaker. It can be connected in parallel with your heaviest 240V appliance if no empty breaker location are available, but this means that on those rare times that breaker is turned off it will not be functioning. Better to use a moderately high amp dedicated breaker. Most such will not trip in the time frame of a surge.
After this install, still apply decent quality dedicated protectors to expensive electronics. Don't worry so much about fridges & the like
I intend to patent the direct manipulation of the quantum wave function, which will, among other outcomes, be the basis for my infinite improbability drive.
Ah, my bad on the billions. I noted it near the beginning but dropped it as I continued. Please accept my apology for the mis-translation, as my planet has a very, very large orbit.
Wrong on several counts. What the 12.7 refers to is when the light left the cluster in question (in billions of years). At the time the light left the cluster it was actually much closer to us than 12.7 light years. The observable universe is actually larger in light years than the time since the Big Bang, due to the expansion of space. This expansion also stretched the travel time for the cluster's light to reach us. Now the cluster (to the extent 'Now' has any meaning) may be 25+ light years away (I apologize for the imprecision, as I don't have the exact figures at hand).
MILLIONS of FLIES!!
Sensing pressure is simple: I just count the seconds between my wife yelling at me. Pressure is inverse to the count.
Wrong approach. Pick out what you want him to read, put them on the bookshelf and tell him he can't read them until he is older. Problem solved.
Was there not a recent article about building a Turing machine out of Legos? I would think the big block version would be something he could handle...
Really? This is what you comment on? Had sad to be you.

Experts my ass.
And the Japanese tea has this cool glow-in-the-dark ambiance...

I believe the correct term for standing/walking workstations is ROBOT!!!

Seriously? Not law school? My parents are going to kick me out of the basement if they figure out I'm not down here studying.
says it all
The server slowdown should be over tomorrow. Please check back then.
Ah, 20 minute duration. Those were the days...
As I recall, drywall never attenuated the noise in the next dormroom very well. This was a pre PC experience however.

dammit
I have issues! And no one is giving me $90M to fix them...
