Apologies if someone else has noted this, but a provisional patent means nothing. It is a mere filing without review and has no substance other than being a time stamp that can be later referenced in a real filing. I can put a roll of toilet paper in an envelope and pay $85 and have a 'Provisional Patent'

Transparent suggests the light goes through unimpeded. Tough to extract energy in a solar panel if the light just goes through. One can target the wavelengths we don't see, but our eyes generally see the most intense part of the sunlight curve, so effective efficiency would be limited

  11. Re:Grammar nazi alert on NASA Probe Orbiting Asteroid Vesta · · Score: 0

Grammar misuse is like any other form of miscommunication. If you want to be clear, unambiguous, then use the language properly. If you want to sound like a dolt, then do what you want. It is no different than accepting a standard set of units - when you and your co-workers screw up, your spacecraft has a problem.

    Two points:

While the fixture/lamp may be equivalent in some sense, that ignores the billions of existing fixtures. Second, there are illuminated light switches that rely on a low current through the bulb even while the switch is in the OFF position. Not really dangerous if you touch it, unless you are on a step ladder and startle and fall (don't worry, I'll be fine).
