If you were using OS X Mail and JunkMatcher (or any filter that allows REs for that matter), you could just setup a regular expression and catch those and more:
.*SEXUAL(LY)?.*EXPLICIT.*
Of course, that'll also catch stuff like:
BEAUTIFUL--SEXUAL----MONKEYS---EXPLICT!!
So if you're into sexual monkeys or just want to be more selective about variations, you'll probably want something more like this:
I'm sorry, but the only difference between the US postal system and the email system is that the Postal Service has a monopoly on the delivery of spam.
My mailbox (as well as most, if not all of my neighbors') is flooded daily with bulk mail addressed to "our neighbors at...", "boxholder at..." or "resident." And then there's the credit card company crap that I receive by the hundreds.
Take a trip to the post office and look in the trash bins. You'll find it overflowing with trashed bulk mail that every one of the PO Box holders receives courtesy of the postal service.
Opt-out? You can mail off a request to the DMA or pay $5.00 to do it online (WTF!). But remember: "Although registration with MPS will help to reduce the amount of unsolicited mail that you receive, it will not stop all unsolicited mail."
And then there's the cost of sending postal mail which has increased steadily and with no real obviuos benefit to me.
The last thing I want is to have one organization responsible for delivery of email - and having the power to manipulate and charge for sending/receiving as they see fit.
Mail's junk filter may be okay, but it's not nearly as good as the article makes it out to be. You'll get much better results using a combination of the built-in filter along with external filtering/tagging devices.
For example, I ran across JunkMatcher some time ago and have been enjoying 99-100% accurracy with less than 1% false positives. It's a huge improvement over the 80-90% accurracy I was getting with the built-in filter alone.
A California state senator on Monday said she was drafting legislation to block Google Inc.'s free e-mail service "Gmail" because it would place advertising in personal messages after searching them for key words.
"We think it's an absolute invasion of privacy. It's like having a massive billboard in the middle of your home," Sen. Liz Figueroa, a Democrat from Fremont, California, told Reuters in a telephone interview.
Please drop Liz Figueroa a message and tell her to be sure to include Microsoft Hotmail, Yahoo and a handful of other web and software-based e-mail services that already advertise to you whether your searching within your email or not...
Oh, and while she's at it, she should include legislation that abolishes the advertising on the cable tv that I'M PAYING FOR and the telemarketers that keep calling on the phone line that I'M PAYING FOR, because those sure are...
"... like having a massive billboard in the middle of your home"
Are you certain that they're not in DM and CTF? As with UT2003, putting vehicles in maps was as simple as loading up the editor and adding a spawn point, so I don't see why it would be any different -- especially considering the weaponry is available to take down the vehicles while on foot.
If it isn't that easy, you can bet a mod will be made that makes it so shortly after it's released:)
"but if you buy a new Mac (with a Mac OS, obviously), won't is have iTunes and iPhoto and the rest of the i-programs installed on it?" [sic]
Let me rephrase that for you:
"But if you buy a new Toyota (with a Toyota engine, obviously), won't it have Toyota parts in it?"
Now imagine that Ford makes the engine and parts for nearly every other car in the world. And, imagine they 'force' all the other car manufacturers, except Toyota, to use their engine and parts.
That's the difference.
And of course, if you tried to put a new CD player in your car made of Ford parts, it'd play at half the speed and crash your car repeatedly.:)...
Seriously though, Apple has nowhere near the monopolistic power that Microsoft has - and probably never will (which is good by me).
Not to mention that you can, without effort permanently remove the Apple products you mention without harming the system and/or user alternate software.
Try removing IE from Windows and see what happens.
ATARI AND EPIC GAMES ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN REBATE PROGRAM, PRICING FOR UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2004
Owners of Unreal Tournament 2003 To Receive $10 Rebate on Purchase of New Game; Special Edition Package Includes Headset, Bonus DVD, Sticker and Metal Box
LOS ANGELES - Oct. 16, 2003 - Atari and Epic Games have announced pricing and packaging details as well as a rebate program for Unreal(R) Tournament 2004, the highly anticipated follow-up to last year's smash hit Unreal Tournament 2003, which has become the standard for competitive multiplayer gaming since it shipped in November 2002.
PACKAGES AND PRICING Unreal Tournament 2004 will ship for Holiday 2003 on PC CD-ROM with a suggested retail price of $39.99. The game will include new maps, modes, characters, weapons, technology and a redesigned interface while also including all of the content - including the free downloadable mission packs from Epic and Digital Extremes - from Unreal Tournament 2003. Unreal Tournament 2004 will mark the return of the fan-favorite Assault mode, the introduction of vehicles and the all new "Onslaught" mode, a team-based challenge across massive battlefields where players face off in a war to destroy and capture the opposing team's power nodes.
A Special Edition package will also be available for Holiday for a suggested price of $59.95. Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD Special Edition will ship as a double-DVD set - disc one will include all of the game content while disc 2 will include more than 150 hours of Video Training Modules (VTMs) from 3D Buzz that will teach fans and amateur mod makers how to use the Unreal Editor to create custom game content. Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD Special Edition will come in a limited edition metal box and will contain a Logitech Internet Chat Headset for use with the game's exclusive voice over IP (voice chat) technology, as well as an Unreal window sticker.
REBATE Owners of Unreal Tournament 2003 will be entitled to a $10 rebate on the purchase of Unreal Tournament 2004. The rebate will apply to both the standard game and the DVD Special Edition. Owners of Unreal Tournament 2003 will be required to submit a proof of purchase for Unreal Tournament 2003 along with a voucher and receipt from Unreal Tournament 2004 in order to receive the rebate.
"Unreal Tournament 2004 is an entirely new stand-alone game featuring land-, air- and space-based vehicles, as well as two major new modes of play - Onslaught and a new and improved Assault," said Steve Allison, vice president of marketing at Atari. "In addition, Unreal Tournament 2004 contains all of the content that was included in the original Unreal Tournament 2003 and its bonus packs. By offering a rebate to current owners of Unreal Tournament 2003, we are making it easy to upgrade so everyone can experience the great new content Unreal Tournament 2004 has to offer."
"Unreal has always been all about and entirely for the community, and the Unreal Tournament 2004 packaging options and rebate program is the purest reflection of that attitude," said Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games. "The rebate will allow current fans of Unreal Tournament 2003 to get this incredible new game for an amazingly low price. We're thrilled that Atari has gone to such great lengths to reward our existing customers. Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD Special Edition packs some awesome goodies. With voice chat support, a headset is essential equipment for true fans and the bonus DVD will help mod makers create better and deeper custom creations. With our '$1,000,000 NVIDIA Make Something Unreal' contest underway, you never know where those lessons and your skills can take you!"
I used this torrent and although I got blazingly fast download speeds, the disk image that I get is corrupted. "No mountable volumes" is the error message I get.
I've got an Atari2600 (and a ton of games) that still looks like new and still works like a charm. The only reason I don't play it more is because I don't want to ruin the joysticks -- those things never lasted very long:)
"Just delete it" and "just filter it" are not, in my opinion, answers to spam (though that's a whole 'nother discussion).
The problem lies with the fact that in either case, you and the ISP both still have to receive the mail. And the 'can-spam' legislation essentially gives permission to spammers to send spam as long as they [the spammers] follow some rules.
My mailboxes are already inundated with thousands of spams a week. Now that I have the pleasure if receiving so-called legal spam, how much will that number increase?
Instead of spam being outlawed -- period -- it's instead been legalized to an extent. Potentially, we'll now see spam following these rules close enough that they'll be even harder to label as spam in the eyes of the law.
Not to metion enforcement. How is ANY of it even going to be enforced? What about spam that originates off-shore and is out of the jurisdiction of the U.S. (where, in my experience, most of it is coming from anyway).
Furthermore, if you think the worst spammers (those harvesting email addresses and using off-shore servers) are even going to give a rat's ass about this legislation, you're kidding yourself.
As many have already said, it's not nearly enough to make even the slightest impact. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.
If you watch any of the interviews where Peter Jackson is talking about the extended versions, he answers the question as to which is the 'real' version and why the extended versions were produced.
"Director's cut implies that the theatrical version was not the movie I wanted to make." is what he says. The Extended Versions were created for the purpose of giving that little something extra to the fans.
After hitting CMD+F, click the browse button and a list of shared devices on the network pops up in a new window - then you can just double-click on the one you want.
It works essentially the same although it requires an extra click to initiate the search. No need to know the IP address or protocol.
I'm not sure about your setup, but when I hit CMD+F to do a search, there's a list of all the mounted local and network devices on the top panel -- no different from jaguar.
Make sure you've got "specific places" selected in the "search in:" pulldown or you won't see 'em.
Not just you -- I'm having major problems with the site as well, getting timeout errors every nearly every time I try to go to a new page. And especially when trying to reply to posts (it took four attempts to get the reply page to come up for this message).
There are at least three versions of the trailer floating around that are NOT the 12 minute preview or the short montage that was part of that preview (from TTT DVD)
There's a very poor quality, so-dark-you-can-hardly-see-it version with Asian type all over the frames (ROTK_Trailer.mpeg)
There's the better quality, 320x240 version that AOL released last night at midnight EST (lotr3_trlr_dl.mov)
A Danish site released a BEAUTIFUL, 19MB, 480x280 version (rotk_trailer_480x280.mov)... but it's downloading at 2.8k/s at the moment:(
TORN mirrored the file from the Danish site, but it was corrupt and was cut short at 11MB. They've temporarily removed the link.
There's a few Torrent links mentioned here for the 480x280, but it is a copy of the corrupt version. Make sure the one you're grabbing is 19MB
The mirror that TORN put up is a corrupt download, so my bet is that that is what the torrent is:( Bummer... I've been trying to get it from another site for over an hour now.
If the net does become a "corporatized, regulated, annoying piece of crap" then we can get back to the way things were before - and I'll finally have a reason to dust off my BBS and rejoin FidoNET.:)

They surely would have reached all 100 million if they had put the codes on bottles of Mt. Dew as well

Forget that. What's funnier still is that they actually placed an ad for the lunar job in the adsense ads panel on the right! lol

I think you musta got a bad Mac from the factory, because every one I've ever bought (5 so far) has had the OS preinstalled :)
Let me rephrase that for you:

This was posted in the official Atari forums late last year, so I'm not sure if it's still entirely accurate.
