Nah, you're just going to be marked as someone who doesn't know what's going on. Perl is very relevant, used in a lot of high profile areas. I don't know what you think 'replaced' perl, but I know that a lot of languages have 'joined' it in many tasks. Web development, system administration, you name it.
You blow some things way out of proportion. I worked at Best Buy, oh, like nine years ago. Even so, while their sales strategy involves pushing that extended warranty and what have you, it won't prevent you from buying the product, and it won't charge you for not buying the extended warranty.
I've purchased from both of these companies. This is an apples and oranges comparison.
Nah, I'm not hating on Gentoo, more playing with the common stereotypes. It just isn't for me. When I go for a system like that, I go ahead and use FreeBSD.
To each their own, and that is the strength of OSS.
Ten minutes from precompiled binaries. So why not install Ubuntu, then? Then you get precompiled binaries AND a good package management system. I thought the whole point of Gentoo was to have everything compiled for you, to save those precious milliseconds...;)
God, I agree. Combat flight sims, and specifically, space sims, I miss the most. Wing Commander is still one of my top games. Two was amazing, and three got campy, but, eh.:)
Fully aware of the sarcasm, as the $380 million mark is no small number. Nevertheless, they always said that the amount of money they received during the opening weekend was far less than they anticipated.
Wow, it couldn't be that people were sick and tired of the complete and utter crap that was Episodes One and Two, that they never bothered with Episode Three?
I saw it because my ticket was cheap. I was just going to wait for DVD.:(
Those of us who actively used PDAs at the time are quite aware that when this form factor came from Microsoft, they called it PalmPC, pissing the Palm users off.
You apparently forgot your medication this morning. Windows Update, the web site that is in your Programs menu by default, displays an 'Express' and a 'Custom' button for choosing your updates. With SP2, there are also more Automatic Updates features included, but that web site is still there and still useful for application upgrades.
The same thing goes for Mac OS X. You can either select Software Update from the Apple menu to manually grab new updates, or Software Update will spawn as often as you choose to and display the new updates for your consumption, or install them automatically if you choose that route.
Medication is in the cabinet, second shelf down, on the right hand side. Thanks.:)
Uh, let's see. How about additional technical support people to handle the additional customer base? To handle generic hardware that won't work under OS X? To handle Windows users who can't move around OS X very well?
No, it wasn't free, it came with a year or two of your life.;) A 'good' mobile phone includes modern features and those cost before activation -- at the very least -- $200. I would imagine this keyboard is going to be between $200 and $300.
Just as an aside, the XML-RPC vulnerability was based on items in the PHP community, and not in the module used within Perl. Danga and the LiveJournal team have been working with XML-RPC for quite some time, and they tend to be nazis about the security of their implementation.

I think they speak of the actual structure of some people's Perl code, and not the size and breadth of the language and/or runtime.
Because they wanted it to be fast? Cripes, the last thing I want running on my PC or my Mac is some bloated Java/Python/Perl app. :P
Quick news flash.
:)
Ogg isn't a requested format. No one cares about ogg. Slashdot != everyone.
Yeah, but Steve Jobs bathes, so he wins. :)

You miss the point: it's a laptop CPU.

"No one wants to spend a week installing an operating system." :)

*rolleyes* It would do you good to chill. :)
Please take pictures.
AT&T had limited availability UMTS, I'm assuming Cingular is also offering in the same zones.

Beat me to it, but YES, THANK YOU.

Innovated in the 80's, refined in the 90's. Microsoft: The Power To Crush. :D

Well, they're all PowerPC, perhaps you mean G5? If so, there's the iMac G5, that's in between, at an inbetween price.

Well, that's easy enough. http://www.m0n0.ch/wall
